Got my snows on today. Nice center caps eh? They are from a DIY on here.

Love the winter ride. Those 15" are so nice and soft. If I ever get a nice set of summer wheels they may just be 15"s.

Thank you. Here is the link to where I borrowed the idea. I had nice old Honda ones but last year lost two of them. No way are these going to fall out.

Picked up these Rota Slips 16 x 7 on Sat. Hopefully they will be OK and not too much rub at +40. Only $100. Now have to buy a set of Continentals. Something to look forward to this Spring.

nice, congrats! great deal too. i think my boosts are also 16x7 ET40. im running 205/50/16 DWS on Swifts. i got a few minor rubs in the back over huge dips when everyone was onboard and while tires were brand new. i dont recall it rubbing much lately though.

Good to hear I should not have a rub. I seldom have anyone in the back. It is the grocery hauler mainly.

DWS? I am thinking Continental. Have you used hubcentric rings or are you ok without them?

Got something to put on those new wheels this morning.

One year old set of General Exlaims UHP 305 50 16 - New over $700 here. I got them for $400. Will have my Dodge dealer mount and balance when the snows come off. Keeping fingers crossed this set does not have a shake/shimmy/vibration like my Gram Lights did.

Been keeping track of my gas mileage since Day 1.

My driving is around 60-65% City. I run in third a lot around town -) - Why? Cause I like the hear the HKS.

So for almost 5 years here are the figures:

7.7 l/100 km or 30 mpg US or 36 mpg Imp. I am happy with those numbers.

This might sound like a stupid question, but where I am from Johannesburg, South Africa. we don't have any snow, what is the reason for changing to "Snow tyres" do they have a different tread or something to cope with the snow?

Hi Brian. The tread is much deeper and the rubber compound is such it stays more flexible in freezing temps thus providing better grip on icy surfaces. Still have to use your head and reduce speeds though.

I can send you some snow.

Bill

Hey there Wily. You aren't missing much other than some scarey close calls.

Nothing like hitting a whiteout and can't see 2 feet in front of the car.

If you slow down ice and snow is not a problem. It is the other drivers that don't that cause the problems.

Hi Bill! I don't think I'd have any trouble with the Fit on snow and ice. I had a VW pickup and a couple of Rabbits in the 80s and early 90s that I drove when I was a newspaper contractor and also when I had a bike shop that was 35 miles from my house. I never had a problem when the roads were iced over... We have only been on icy roads a couple of times since we got the Forester.. It does real well but strong side winds created some worry until I got used to it.

Finally. The wheels and tires are on. Now I need to re-paint calipers and drums black. That will wait till it warms up.

They ride nice. No shimmy or shake. My Dodge dealer did a good job mounting the tires and balancing.
