Rogue Carbon Cowl Scoop and Cowl Cover interest
Tho' this particular prototype mentioned is for the GE
I have a GD sri as well...it rains here sometimes and in certain areas daily, never had a problem with water or moisture from the water getting in the engine bay thru my cowl cover..
I don't recall reading a thread anywhere that stated that there has been damages/problems as a direct result from using the scoop either..

I love it!!!
but I have a question..... is there anyway to keep water out from getting onto the air filter? I am guessing this scoop directs air right into the area where (if you use short ram) the air filter is!!!
Where I live, it rains 10 out of 12 months!!!
just want to see if anyone from GD had any problems with rain getting onto the air filter!!! Good Job on the prototype it looks clean!!!!

Worst case scenario, you can cut a small piece of plyable foam to fit the scoop opening and place it in there when it rains. The airbox would still pull in air from the driver's side of the engine bay.

Thanks for the info about possible water issues. The question came up a number of times concerning the GD scoop but many have noted no problems.
Here are a couple pictures of what we'll call the 'pre-production' part. The parts are the first out of the mold and have no clear coat so the production parts will have a much better finish.
We'll have to test this again just to make sure there are no other adjustments needed.

as far as the rain goes, its more of drip since the water has to sorta travel to the right, down into the cowl which by then it should be more of a drip i think. Im sure if u aimed the hose right up the scoop u would have problems with water soak. also it depends on what kind of intake you have. if you have home made short ram intake and your filter extends real close to the brake reservoir, there's a possibility the filter will get damp. I had home made sri w/ the prototype scoop but my filter was short as well as the pipe so it never got wet, even during heavy rains. if u have a prm intake (which i have currently), that would help w/ shielding the weather.
I haven't been contacted by Rogue, so I'm betting he's still working it. Let's be patient ... everyone here will be informed as soon as possible. Thanks.
O sorry I didn't know you were the official spokes person for rouge. From now on I'll just send you my pms for any updating I might be needing.
Wow, way to be a dick. He's the one whose car they are testing the prototype on. Since its not through with testing if he hasn't heard from rogue about it then no one has probably. He was just trying to give you an answer.
Don't worry about it Jamy. This forum has a good group of people, but there are always a few morons that have no courtesy or professionalism, and this guy is a perfect example. This is a good way to drive away the few remaining vendors we have here. Keep up the good work Hatch!

Ok guys come on... I was kidding..... I know rogue will post up whatever updates he has. My post was intended to be a ”bump" more than really needing information.
Why are you guys so sensitive?

OK, as far as I'm concerned, it's water under the bridge. Let's move on and get back to why we're all here. Hopefully Rogue will have an update on the progress of his composite work.

Sorry I haven't provided an update lately. I've been doing some work on the molds and I do need to get a part to XJP5 to test the fit, I just haven't been able to make over his way. I'll do what I can to get the part tested within the week and give an update.
