i'm about to walk out to do this... if the parts aren't correct it should only take me about an hour or so... if they are, it'll take a little bit longer...

no good news in this post:

i got tingles when i found the russell "universal" clutch adapter p/n640281... so on a desperation move, i ordered it from jegs...

the length is correct, but once again, by about 1/32", it's too narrow and wouldn't hold a seal correctly...

so to recap:
the ss line listed is correct
the 90* coupler is correct
the two adapters that are necessary to attach the -3an fittings to the cmc/csc are unknown at this time

i'm beginning to get frustrated now...

are we pretty certain that the adapter would be a metric one?

i'm only assuming so since it's a foreign product...

if so:
i found a few -3an to 12x1.0mm adapters... i'm trying to figure out what kind of flare we need... i'm believe we'd need a bubble flare...

i need some help now... i don't want to order another adapter without some more research this time...

So is your car down then? are you able to remove the master cylinder? If you've got it out of the car take it to transmission shop. The adapter is going to be metric for sure. Can you take a picture of the original brass piece that the factory line connected to? I'm going to be working these next couple of days or I would head to some shops myself. Do you think you will at least be able to return those other adapters? I think if you go to a shop that does trans work this won't be an issue as they have seen everything.

the car isn't down... my wife needs to drive it pretty much everyday, otherwise i would've done what you said and just taken it in somewhere...

i should be able to return the adapters... less shipping and whatnot... but i'm going to hold off until this project is done just to be certain...

i've been digging around honda-tech, and i think the 12x1 to 3an will work... it seems to be a popular size on honda mc's...

here's what i'm looking at right now (and for my reference later):
AN PLUMBING.COM Earls performance products Hose ends Hose,Adapter fittings
p/n - 305-03M121

Pegasus - Male 12 x 1.0mm Metric Convex Seat to 3AN Male, Steel
Pegasus - Male 12 x 1.0mm Metric Concave Seat to 3AN Male, Aluminum

so essentially the choice is down to a convex, concave, or bubble flare for the adapter...

and if i remember correctly, it's either a convex or bubble...

Post up if you've removed the piece in the second pic and post up a pic of what the end looks like so I can find out what the end is called, thanks.

Inverted flair is what you want (99% sure)... here's a reference article on this done on Honda. This Honda used 10mm adapters though...

Honda Clutch Line Installation - Steel Braided Bling - Honda Tuning Magazine

Very curious if you had that brass piece in the second picture installed or not when fitting the new line. We could very well need 12mm as you've said but just find a 12mm version of those Russell adapters I had listed. As far as the 12X1mm side, I don't think there is anything special about that side of the adapter, you would know better as you've had it apart.

If you took some pictures when you had it apart it would be a huge help on this! Thanks!

yes
yes

i have removed the stock adapter fitting... i don't think we're going to find a honda clutch adapter to -3an... i'm nearly certain it's not made...

i did some more digging on honda-tech and found a guy who knows what he's talking about... he said if it's not a 10mmx1.0, it's 12mmx1.0... and you're right... we do need the inverted flare to seal correctly - my bad...

can anyone find one like this (below) but in steel?

Pegasus - Male 12 x 1.0mm Metric Concave Seat to 3AN Male, Aluminum

pics:

stock metric thread onto stock cmc adapter

stock metric 12mm vs 10mm as first thought

stock cmc adapter (right) vs russell adapter (left) - notice the russell is ever so slightly thinner

i'm also beginning to believe that the cmc adapter needed is a 12mmx1.0 while the csc adapter needed is a 10mmx1.0...

glad i didn't return the adapters

I wouldn't use an aluminum one, check this one.

AN PLUMBING.COM Earls performance products, Hose ends Hose,Adapters, fittings

First part (#592032) listed looks good, can you confirm that's what it looked like when you had it apart? "Works with Inverted or bubble flare. Steel Brake Adapter 2 per pkg" I'm pretty sure this is what we need...

that link you gave just sends me to the main page... what part number did you want me to see?

592032 looks ok, but it's still the 10mmx1.0... not the 12mm that's needed...
305-03M121 is close but it's bubble only... doesn't say it'll work with inverted flares...

Haha I wonder where my brain is sometimes...(probably because I was doing 50 other things at the same time) yeah I got them mixed up. You are correct 305-03M121 is the one we are looking for. That site won't let me link past the main page I guess? Anyway I sent them an e-mail to make sure its compatible(as far as working with inverted flare). I'll keep you posted when I hear back apexanimal.

Apexanimal, here is what they had to say about P/N#305-03M121

"pull the inverted brass nipple insert out of the cylinder and it will be bubble flare and work fine with this part"
