hatch shocks

sup fitfreak. well my 07 fit is my daily driver. a few days ago, the hatch started to make this loud squeeking noise everytime i opened it. the shocks arent dead, they are just noisy as f***. anyone have the same problem? whats something to make it quiet.. hit me up fitfreaks, thanks!

Maybe it just needs some grease.

it wouldnt ruin the shock its self? is wd40 okay?

Actually, I have no idea.

It really depends on what is squealing. If it's the main piston rubbing the top of the strut body, then maybe WD40 would be okay (assuming it doesn't degrade some hidden part). But I used WD40 on my chair... it's squealing more than before!!! I think the WD40 acted more like a cleaner than a greaser.

For some reason, I keep picturing Jamie Hyneman from Mythbusters with a tub of lard, using at as lube.

WD40 is one heck of a good cleaner..... happens to be kerosene based, and so has some temporary lubrication qualities..... When I lived in Cape Canaveral, I got into a rather long discussion with one of the engineers who developed the WD40 formula....

its coming from the shock. the silver part? will try it out tomorrow.. like it makes my car sound old... hahha.

Don't use WD40 as a lubricant. WD40 is a solvent.
