Key won’t physically unlock the door

I’ve had my 2018 Sport since the summer - today I accidentally locked my keys in the car (in the ingnition). I got my spare key but discovered it won’t physically open the door. Both electronic fobs work fine (however they are deactivated when there is a key in the ignition).

any ideas on what could cause this?

Just A Guess.

Reason why your spare key won't open the car door because your other key is in the ignition.

Probably a theft deterrent action for car theft.

I mean the actual key won’t won’t the door when you stick it in the keyhole, regardless of keys are in the ignition i

Battery.

Your key battery might have to be changed.

the weird thing is the key fob will lock and unlock the door. It’s the mechanical part of opening the door by sticking the key in that doesn’t work

Your door lock itself might have to be looked at.

Get some Tri-Flow (or WD40 if you can't find it). Squirt it into the keyhole generously. Put the key in the slot and move it in and out several times. With the key all the way in try turning it left and right. If that doesn't work, take it to a locksmith who works on autos.
