EPA never goes uphill or runs into wind! At least they turn on the A/C now ...

Too bad the exact EPA test cycle isn't a secret ... then manufs wouldn't do silly things to optimize for it. There's a reason the Prius stays in electric mode until 47 mph ... because the city EPA test goes to 45! Crap like that.

'10 Sport AT first 1100 miles getting 38.1 (according to display [will calculate by formula next time]) in Bay Area 90% freeway miles (reduced speed usually in the maze towards San Francisco and Bay Bridge Toll Plaza) with several quick on/offs to move the car in and out of garage to wash and get it out of the sun.

Been downshifting with the paddle shifters to minimize braking. Cruise control is cool! Getting used to driving with one arm using the armrest. Short sun visor is the worst feature so far especially for the left side. I bought an extender but haven't tried it yet.

Windshield is the biggest one I've ever had and can barely wipe the entire side from one side.

I've been getting anywhere between 39-43 mpg on the freeway trips back and forth from Chicago to Detroit and back again. I put the cruize on 70 mph, where its 70mph and stay in the right lane and only pass when I need to. Not only does this net me great mileage but it keeps the law out of my pocket

I am taking notes and seeing how my mpg compare with certain gas and certain octains also with different psi's in the tires. Oh and with different oils as well seing if that helps at all.I have a app on my droid that will help me take all of this down. I will let u guys know on updates i might have. Glade to see so far what i am geting for it being a AT

Hi, I have a problem (like many others here I think) and as you wrote "BTW - I had the dealer re-load the software that calculates the mpg for the mileage minder even though my VIN was not listed as part of the recall" can you please tell me how you found out if your cars is or is not listed as par of the recall?

mpg not so good

i owned a 2001 chevy prizm before i bought the fit it had 140 k miles on it weighs almost the same as the fit sport at is less aerodynamic i would think has a larger engine 1.8 liter has more hp 125 hp and 125 tq and is only 4 speed at why would the gas mileage be the same for the 08 fit 5at sport doesnt make sense now i do have snow tires on and it is winter i have 33k miles on it and only have put 2 tanks of gas thru it since i just bought it maybe i just need more time to measure

I think fit has more drag. The fit is TALL. The prism is slim. I'm getting 37MPG summer and 30MPG winter. The drag is very important in the winter months since cold the air is harder to break through.

when u mean sport mode, is there a button that u press to be in sport mode? cause i have a friend that has a 08 fit sport and it seems like when its in 4th(paddle shift) is runs better than when in 5th... what could be the prob? cause it will literally slow down in 5th gear and only let him go 65-70... then 4th lets him go 80+.... we've all just figured that he f***ed up his engine cause he used to drive like a retard when he first go it... but maybe there's a possible explanation...

mpg bad

i just bought an 08 fit 5at sport im not getting very good mileage approx 25-26 city at best but i think the winter gas and snow tires i put on my be doing it and my job requires 10 stops approx a day with short drives so i think that might be why it is too bad ,the chevy prizm i had got 27-28 with the same type of driving - a little frustrating was hoping for 1-2 mpg better

My MPG went to the toilet. I used to get 36-38mpg, and now I get 28-32 any given tank. Both calculated and using the ScangaugeII. I have brand new tires, maybe 500 miles on them, some sticky BFG G-forces on OEM rims, same 195/15s. And I don't have any extra weight in the car. I'm thinking Cali winter gas just sucks...

My mom used my car to go to Waco for a few days. I filled it up for her before she left, and she brought it back with the fuel light on, which came on a few miles from home. The trip odometer showed under 320 miles.

I keep track of gas mileage via my Gas Cubby app on my iPhone. Even with the traffic she hit on the way home, she apparently managed roughly 35 MPG.

Well, I have an 08' 5 speed and I have never seen over 34 MPG. And i drive 70 on the highway, paddle upshift early, 32 PSI in the tires, off the gas/coast to stop signs/lights etc... I can go 360 miles on a good day before the gas light comes on, then I have gone 50 additional miles before I fill up. So I don't see how anyone gets too much more than the 33-34 I am getting. Definitely not the reports of well over 40 MPG that some report. What is you secret?

Using premium fuel, 0w20 synthetic oil, applying the throttle slowly letting the revs gradually climb to 4000 to 4500 RPM before shifting and the things you mentioned already worked out well for me when my engine wasn't boosted... It was seldom that I got under 37.5MPG and often got between 38.5 and 39MPG.. I got 35.5MPG and better with the KWSC base kit... With the high boost kit I was getting 32 to 32.5 if I didn't get crazy on the throttle, used 5w20 oil and octane booster.. With 5w30 and without octane booster it's 27.5 to just under 30MPG

Stock 2008 AT. Going from stock 185/55/16's to 205/45/16's my mpg died...

Mixed: 29mpg --> 26.5
Highway: 33/34 mpg --> 31

When I had my stock 15" GD Sport wheels I was pullying +30 mixed. So sad. But whatevers, my car takes corners a lot smoother/more stable now. Safety is worth a few mpg I guess.
