I pulled in the current Clean mpg data for Fits into a spread sheet to see what's going on.

I sorted it by miles driven and colored those (that have been at it) yellow. I than sorted by MPG.

I did that so you can filter OUT the flash in the pan achievements vss the ones that have proven results when sorted by MPG.
I filtered out the Automatic Fits also.

Shane is out did every human that has registered on this site, 44 total total nice work and has done that without a scan gauge.

Of the 08's I'm doing OK at 44mpg over 6600 miles green bar

A number of other Form users on the list.

IMHO these goes that have been at it with close to 50mpg are the PROS
Elitelnmcmahanlnmcmahan's Vehicle2007 Honda Fit Sport - Man M5MT297 14550 49
Elitefitmpgfitmpg's Honda Fit2007 Honda Fit Manual (5)MT349 16653 48

If you look close, those with the '07 of course have the most miles

WooHoo!! Holdin' down the bottom of the list!

Too bad there isn't a way to show how you get the mileage. Mine's almost 100% city AND short trip - like 5 miles each way. It's a real workout staying above 30mpg, but I'm getting better at it...

I am only 1st because I have not posted from the get go and I have half as many miles as inmcmahan. Also, note that inmcmahan has posted several 60+mpg tanks!

It is all relative. The real difference is in the wallet. I am spending less at the pump while still paying more for the gallon. Speaking of which, I have noticed that gas has dropped about $0.05 a gallon.

Well, this morning I filled up with 9.7 gallons and I was able to get 475.miles out of the tank(yes) there was more left) which yields 49.0mpg!

200 miles of I-77(Trip to Carowinds) at 60mph using Cruise Control and using A/C - I was able to Draft a semi for about 25miles . The rest was typical work using P&G and FAS and CC.

Now, I am going to try shifting at 2250rpms for this tank and see if it makes a big difference from shifting at 2500rpms, Larry from cleanmpg does.

For my 08 Base, I just avg. 35.3mpg with the light coming on at 325 miles, mostly city driving not too bad on my first tank.

Hate to jinx myself, but pretty please with what I see so far

90 mile to the E line and scan gauge says 52.5mpg for 102miles.

I need one of those 600 mile tanks in the worst way.

New modified P&G with new max speed of 60mph

I just took a trip down to North Carolina from the Cleveland, OH. My fit was loaded with 4 adults and enough luggage for 5 days (plenty of room by the way). I got 37 mpg with the A/C on, going up and down the hills of WV and averaging about 72mph most of the way. I love my fit!

Hi folks,

My wife and I just purchased a 2008 Fit Sport Tidewater Blue with a 5 speed a little over a week ago. She currently has almost 1400 miles on her as of this morning.

Our daily commute is comprised of 70% highway, 20% city, and 10% curvy mountainous road (my favorite part.) Round trip is about 105 miles daily. In the city I generally adhere to the speed limit and occasionally coast in neutral to stops. On the highway my speed ranges from 60-70 MPH with no drafting attempts and liberal use of cruise control when prudent (read; when I won't need to change speed much due to flow of traffic.). The curvy road section I tend to drive a little more aggressive due to how well the car handles and upping the RPMs for uphill ascents. On the return trip in the evening, the AC is on the whole way. Average MPG according to my scangauge and envelope calculations has been 41.

Pure city driving has been netting me 31-32 MPG. Pure highway appears to be 45 MPG according to the scangauge.

Take it for what it's worth. I am however, very happy with the mileage so far.

Best Regards,

Landmizzle

I just had a 35.45mpg trip with A/C on the entire time. I cruised at 65mph for the most part, but going through the East L.A. Interchange it was closer to 20mph for a while.

I'm sure it's been brought up before, and maybe it's just California drivers, but has anyone felt like driving slow is border line dangerous because everyone else is flying by you at 75-80. I tried to stay in the slow lane, but the cars getting on and off the freeway are trying to move just as fast as the cars in the fast lane. Combined with the fact that most drivers can't merge to save their lives; I ended up moving into the center lane, which is fine until people try to go around you and there’s that merging problem again. lol.

I have finally done it guys, my quest for the white rabbit has ended!

61.5mpg!!!

584.4miles on the tank
9.5 gallons to filler up

A good bit of this was P&G from from 50-40mph and 55-45mph. I tried not to go 60mph and only did to glide down to 45mph.

I was really starting to think I wasn't going to achieve it.

Now, that I have accomplished this I think I will go back to driving normal..........only problem is I don't know what "normal" is anymore!

PS You have to do better this fill, Larry got close to 63

haha! NO, A/C. I even sprayed the inside of my car with Febreeze last night because it was stank! Too much sweat from no A/C

I will be down in your neck of the woods come either September or December for Disney World.

I quit going that slow. I barely hit 60mph. The key is to NOT drive above 50mph. It was taking me 1hr and 30mins to get to work. The fastest that I ever made it to work was like 55min(that was doing like 80-85mph where I could and never drove below 5mph above the speed limit). When I started driving the speed limit it would take me 1hr and 10min.

I was looking at the Clean millage logs and saw Rich is number 100 on the list. Rich do something!

I also noticed a Saturn II that had a 74mpg fill. He's in the top 10 in gas cars. Went from 40mpg to 73 in a few months WTF. I can see it slurking around at 40mph lol

Saturns seem to be pretty aerodynamic and I bet that person doesn't drive above 50mph either!

I was so excited that I finally got 60mpg I hauled ass up to 85mph on the interstate to a P&G down to 45. The car hadn't seen that mph in a while.

Had to make a run to Costco today... and with my Fit. I'm at 52.5mpg avg and 162 miles on the 600mile run...lol Gas gauge is still north of 3/4 tank

Anyway I decided to get aggressive and did a lot of P&G with FAS. Well by the time I got home 10miles the current "trip" avg was 54.9mpg sweet

No way I'll get your +60mpg Shawn, but I'm after that 600 mile goal

That's from not hypermiling for the first 9 months of owning the car. I should make a separate log that starts when I began hypermiling.

It would be sweet...... so I can take a little break.

260 miles and still not at 1/2 tank SG says 53mpg now. Should get 1/2 tank Wed and I will be interested to see how close to 300 miles.

It's amazing the bad Eco advise on here. I have almost given up doing battle with the anti-Eco experts. All it took (for me) was to spend some time on that other site. Rich and you excepted as you are Pro's and have been good help and form buds
