Actually, am seriously looking at 2013 Base with stick shift. Love the way the Sport looks, but I can get the Base cheaper. Budget is a big deal right now, so it's Base or no Fit.
I bought an '86 Civic Si hatchback new. That was the best car I've ever had. Was practical - could stick a twin mattress in the back (stuck out some, but it was wide enough). The Fit reminds me of my Civic, but bigger, more HP, same MPG (!), roomier, kind of a mini-mini wagon/van. I got 193,000 miles on the Civic and would expect at least the same on the Fit.
Also, both cars built in Japan, and that's important to me.

Fit is still made in Japan unless you're in Canada, then it's made in China. New Fit (new design I mean, unreleased in US) is made in Mexico.
You can always check the VIN to confirm, the plant the car was made in is included in the code.
