here's the clearbra i did this morning. i bought 2 generic 3M/scotch clearbra rolls 6" x 84" to do the top and bottom. i also had a roll of XPEL from a previous install so cut it to 2" width and covered the center bottom. total cost no more than $75.

I could've bought the pre-cut kit, but that wouldve been over $300, so it did not make sense to me..at least not for this car cause i could get the bumper repainted at that price.

the trick for me is to pre-cut one of the sides (in this case top) before application so that it makes it a lot easier to aim the entire clearbra. at the end, i just trim the ends with scissors. my goal was to cover the very front of the bumper.

it's really all in the technique (if you even want to call it that.. just learn where to pull and push), no high tech tools used. small soft silicone squeegee, dish-soap solution in spray bottle, and a bottle of Griots WindowCleaner and MF towel as wax remover and dry accelerator as it has rubbing alcohol in the mix.

it was hard to get the seams in the shot, but here's a in-process shot. outside, no one will see this especially if they're standing a few feet away as they should.

then left it in the hot sun for a couple of hours. it will take several weeks to get it to fully cure.

finished:

here's that pedal return spring mod i saw in the DIY. in the pict below, i used one 3-11/16" x 7/16" x 0.47" spring and two 1-1/2" s-hooks. there's enough tension that the s-hook doesn't slip down the rod. and you can't see this from normal seating position.

and took a short test drive from 25mph side streets to expressway. it now throttles like a normal car.. meaning, i can leave my foot on the gas and i dont accelerate. very nice mod. i can finally relax. lol

the last thing i want to try is to see if i can tilt the seat back just a hair.

^^ hey welcome! :wavy:

i think next up, im going to get camber bolts for the front. i want to have a lot more negative camber up front. my tires have reinforcement belts on the inner treads so it can handle camber better unlike regular directional tires. since the car has an open diff, i want to make sure i get max traction while turning.

GoodAM (good am or good morning)everyone, hope you are having a great sunday. for those in japan, hope everything is okay with that hugegangeous typhooon..

OT (off topic) this am, but instead of motoring my Z on my usual weekend drive, i treated her with new clearbra on the side rockers. it's her bday today and she is 3. she has about 10.5k miles on her since i took ownership.

here's a pict. you can't see the seam..it's suppose to be that way.

as for my '12 GE, i checked up on the clearbra install i did yesterday and gently followed up with some pressure with my MF towel.

after clearbra is partially dry, i NEVER force bubbles out. it will stretch the bra in a way it will leave a permanent mark. just leave the bubble as it is and water will eventually evaporate through the bra... and everything will be nice and and flat. it can take 3-4wks depending on how large the bubble is. luckily for me (well luck cause i dont do this as a pro ) i dont have any large bubbles. ive been doing this for years so i know where and how to press, stretch, pull, etc the product.

ahh, sounds like a busy, yet relaxing day.

after doing the clearbra this am, i went to my other cave (music room) and just relaxed after doing a few house chores. then looked after my kids while wife ran errands this pm.

chilli dogs tonight.

That sounds like a good day. B.L.T.'s with monster home grown tomatoes will be the dinner fare this evening -- accompanied by the latest episode of Braking Bad. It is very decadent.

kinda sore from all the clearbra work... my back, my knees, im getting kinda achy lately. not sure why im still young in my 20's. well, back 20yrs ago.

so this am drove the GE to work. the pedal return spring felt kinda on the heavy side. i had to think to throttle vs throttling naturally... i bought 3 different springs (soft/med/hard) over the weekend, and im curretly using the middle rate. i will swap to the soft rate when i get home, and drive it to work this week and decide which one i want to use.

seems like on the weekends i am wide awake, but on the weekdays i am kinda tired so my foot is lazy.

came to the office and found that the landscrapers have already done the lawn for this week. wooot! means i will be driving my G to work this week.

tonight im going to spot clean my GE's side and rear using griot's sprayon car wash. it's a waterless wash. super lubricity. not doing a wash since im still drying the clearbra. just taking my time to ensure the edges dont lift
