over the weekend i put away my Z for the season. i cleaned the car inside out, fixed some cosmetic things on my CF rear diffuser that need some tlc adjustment, and pressured up the tires, placed her on flatstoppers. then put the cover on her as i did my G. so both my cars are officially in hibernation until next Spring and did not see a bit of salt.

and im glad i put them away for the season cause melting frost in the am + salt on the ground can make for a pretty ugly mess. the areas i take my Z out on weekends for my drive is in a wooded area prone to black ice... so they put down a good layer of icemelt even if there's no snow. i drove the same roads in my '12 GE on sunday. used some sprayon car wash when i got home.

i pushed the GE a couple of times during my drive (within speed limit) thinking im killing my average mpg, but mpg went up to 37 vs my usual 33-34. lol it's mostly because im driving on rural roads and very low traffic in the early am. the good was the car felt pretty good overall when i drove it around moderately fast.

the bad was car didn't feel that great when pushed. i shouldn't be comparing this car to my Z or G but driving on the same roads, i just do. and power aside, the GE is nowhere near the sportiness of my other cars...braking, driving dynamics, turning, sound..the total mechanics of the car.. not much character. which is fine because it is a cheap econobox i bought with my pocket money and wasn't really meant for anything other than my dd while my cars hibernate during the winter.

but, i really like the idea of taking my GE out touring for scenic drives. going places to relax and enjoying scenery without using much gas is great. so i will be taking it out again this coming weekend to areas ive not been to for a while...

hummm... im looking to get a decent radar detector for my GE. i already have two V1's so i dont feel like spending another 450 or whatever those things cost.

i only need it when im going out of town so it can be a cheap one... any good ones out there that are around 150-200?

Beltronics Pro 200?

Beltronics Pro 200 Radar detector at Crutchfield.com

Check out reviews online and stuff, but this is the best reviewed "budget priced" detector i've found and am considering one for myself. I generally don't speed much day to day but it would make long desert crossings a little faster. Right now afraid to speed in the Middle of Nowhere, NV because the deserts are peppered with highway patrol.

thanks wanderer. hummmm... beltronics is owned by escort and the 8500x50black with red led's are only $75 more with free shipping for me on amazon. how would this detector compare with the 8500x50 black? it's supposedly a step above the 8500 with silver housing.

the same 8500xblack with blue led's look nicer but probably due to higher demand, selling at $299 ...
