msb- here's a copy & paste i added to the variable wiper stalk thread:
https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...ml#post1140442
did this mod today on my '12 MT sport.
thanks again to mscott and the others. i luv this mod.
this might help future installers so here's some tips i want to add:
Diagram for the Q-connector. This connector is next to a yellow connector (P-connector) which is closest to you. my Q-connector was hard to see with my mirror tool as the K-connector just above it had a lot of wires going over the Q-connector. i had to push all the K-connector and P-connector wires out of the way to pull out the Q-connector. it took me a good 10-15min to get this out.

after unplugging the Q-connector i used a generic pig tail wire, like some of the other did, and just pushed it into the harness + hot glue. i just found a wire about the thickness of the other wires coming out of the Q-connector.
if you use this approach, you dont have to take anything apart on the harness so it might be easier for some of you. you can do everything with one hand. just have a small glue gun.
same deal on the stalk 8pin connector. i used a bigger wire on this side and just pushed it in without taking anything apart. then hot glue.

pin8 with my pigtail wire

at the end, i just crimped the wires together. walla. i would say difficulty isn't too bad, but the pita factor is huge. it is a biotch to do the Q-connector side as others have already mentioned many times.

Torqued up the lugs on both GE's. Went out for the last errand of the day, picked up mexican for dinner.
. As usual, ate too much. Luv mexican food.
now I need to relax.... while at the restaurant I checked out my new offset on the rear. Its aggressive with a slight poke. Very clean. Almost reminds me of a back of a rwd car.

woot, ran a quick errand during lunch in the rain. the variable wipers with delayed wipe under 10mph worked great. this is a fantastic mod.
sad though, cause this is standard on my other cars. hahahaha.

np! my right arm is still kinda sore from that Q-connector wiring ordeal.
that was one pita.
i hightly recommend you have a mirror tool like this along with a small flashlight that you can hold together with the magnet tool with your left hand.

actually my mirror tool is an extending magnet tool with the mirror thing that attaches to it. i bought mine at Sear's.
those would be better as you have both features with the same tool.

motored my '12 to work this am in the rain. was a fun but clunky ride at first as i got new shoes on today. literally new and not broken in.
just cheepo's but leather slippers by StreetCars called Carrerra or something. sounds fast, huh?
it's comfy for driving (no issue doing heel & toe or side of foot and toe downshifts) and also works as business casual.
for most of my motoring i use piloti's and the wider casual shoes from sketchers when im running errands. as long as the heel is rounded it can suit driving. same goes for snow boots. no issue driving in those either.
if you have an AT car who cares... any shoe would work. lol that's one of the very few advantages of AT cars for me. i can wear pretty much any pair of shoes or boots and drive smoothly.

My work is very casual and I usually wear Converse or the like. My wife always asks why I don't wear nicer shoes to work.
"I can't drive in that sh%$"
I will bring dress shoes seperate for meetings though
Piloti is out of business? I was shopping for some new ones since they double fairly well as "sneakers" and don't look ridiculous and everything is on closeout. I guess I have to get Pumas now lol

yah, i too dont like wearing expensive things unless it's for a special occasion. even so, it's not 'expensive' like what rich folks have.
my priorities are different.
i wont be spending thousands of dollars on an outfit, but i would pay to get nice wheel and tires.
did piloti go out of business?
that sucks if they did. i really like their shoes. i have 3 pairs and they are very comfy and durable. the oldest one i have is from like 2005.
i only wear them once or twice a week though at most. i should buy another pair before they are all gone!
