the drive home in the GE was fun. the DWS stuck like glue in the rain. very good tires. even on the painted stripes, no issues taking off (no wheel spin). i shut off VSA. no issue with slippage.

so i have to admit, im getting use to the new look (16's gunmetal). it has more a nice comical look now and it's actually pretty cool. i need to add decals...

So Ken, may I ask with the two true 'fun' cars (Z and G) how do you choose which one you're going to drive? Or are there situations where one is better than the other?

The G and Z are setup differently...and while they seem like similar cars they are very different. My G35C is more of a dress up touring car I use for relaxed drives and some spirited runs in nice weather. Since it has rear seats I use it during the week so that if I get a call from my kids' school to pick them up due to illness, I can go straight to school.

My 370Z is setup for driving. Based on my roads here, I have it setup a certain way where I can concentrate on driving spiritedly and enjoyably, not avoiding manhole lids or jarring myself to death.

I don't take this car to work at all, only pull her out on sunny weekends dedicated only for driving enjoyment. this is my personal space away from work and family. My wife has never ridden even shotgun in my Z. Hahahaha.

no rain yet, and my DWS is still well dressed even though i drove through rain yesterday. hummm... perhaps the thorough clean up i did using RC car motor spray to degrease the sidewall before i put dressing on helped quite a bit.

im still going to do the goofoff scurbing as i missed a few spots. hahaha. there's some reminance of the mounting lube tirerack used on the sidewall near the rim.

hope it stays dry until i get home.

in other news, i noticed that the current wheel set (5.6lbs lighter than the enkei + Re760 summers) greatly improved the turn-in response of the car.

car feels more like it's suppose to in one piece. with the heavier wheel set the car felt like it was literally dragging its feet.

yah, actually though the 17" enkei's are 18.6bls which is only slightly heavier than the stock wheels.

the issue is the RE760's weight... potenza's are notorious for being heavier than competitor offerings. i think continental and michelin offer one of the lightest performance tires.

I got a potential serious issue with my GE. Twice already I have mistaken 1st gear as neutral due to the GE's rubbery long shifter. Thinking I'm in N, I would let off the clutch, lurch a few inches forward, my reflex stops the car and stall. 3ft forward my G35C sits.

the shifters in my G35C and 370Z are crisp and solid. No way would I confuse neutral while in gear. So, I need to remind myself to REALLY WIGGLE my knob to confirm neutral before engaging. And that don't sound good on paper. . Hahahaah. TGIF everyone!

Motored my G to work today.

wheew, it wasn't lawn mowers. it was the street sweeper trucks. hahaha.

i have to say though, along with the appreciation i have for garbage truck guys, i appreciate the great work the street sweeper truck guys do. it is a night/day difference especially this time of year with dead leaves everywhere!

so plan of action for tonight... clean up my G real well, then if im still in the mood, bring up my Z's wheels to the garage. i guess i should swap it before the drive tomorrow since i cleaned the wheels after the last drive. hummm...

when i take the nismo wheelset off the car, im going to mark the tires with masking tape which side it was from. i dont rotate my tires on this car and it uses asymetrical staggered tires so want to make sure which side i took them off from. then come next summer, i dont have to hear howling from the tires.
