yah, donuts for appetizer. had one for snack when i got home. the drive home was uneventful but a tad annoying with a couple of dumbarse garbage folks driving too slow for traffic.

alright, got home installed the stud shelves in the garage walls. thing is flimsy compared to the one i bought many years ago but it will do the job to hold 5qt jugs in between the studs.

wife's making us miso nikomi udon tonight.

 

Ken - Be careful man, cars get dinged by falling things in the garage. Yes i have experience with this.

hi ash yess.. i put small chains on the front side of the shelves to prevent the jugs from falling off the shelves incase something bumped it..

 

and never mind the bed frame that hit my sports car when we were doing a garage sale several yrs ago..

and hail falling on my one day old GK denting its roof..along with my GE at the time.. lol

 

i need to wash the GTI but they put down so much salt again wtf.. guess will decide on the way home whether to wash tonight or over the weekend..

i think i’m going to work on the STI and R’s oil changes on Sat morning as planned.

Thoughts on buying a complete Monroe brand strut assemblies for my Mom's Rogue? Easier and lifetime warranty is my logic than a strut/damper replacement.

 

sure why not. monroe is a well known brand.

 

My thoughts exactly. Haven't heard back from her on what she wants to do though. Just trying to save her a headache and some $. You know how some shops will take advantage of uninformed car owners...i.e. women.

 

I haven't any idea on the Rogue stuff. I've never replaced an OE style damper with another OE style damper. I imagine Monroe stuff will be fine, as it is a fairly big name.

 

yah my wife hates car dealerships and anything relating to servicing cars. i do all that in exchange she fixes my pos windows computers for free.

 

but my way of serving cars is easy. flat tire = time to buy new car

I would definitely go with the pre-built Monroe's for a driver. Saves both the work and possibly safety issue of messing with a spring compressor.

An electric impact would be a smart investment for the project. You could, in theory, do the job without one, but the job will go much smoother if you have an impact.

I've been using the same big heavy air impact since the '90's. A friend just bought a new air impact and I was shocked at how compact they are now in comparison. Also shocked by what I'm seeing in the cordless arena. This is probably the first time in history that you can actually get a cordless impact that is strong enough for most automotive uses.

 

Exactly my thoughts GAFIT, I installed the Coilovers on the GE with the help of an impact which made it quick and easy on the arms.

I was at a friends house though. When I removed the coilovers I did it all with manual tools and a breaker bar when needed. While do-able it took a little longer.

Yeah I'm looking at expanding my Milwaukee M18 tool line...they make a good looking impact.

My dad and friend have been using the same air impacts for 15+ years. Somewhat bulky, but do the job.

i have a corded impact with like 400lbs/ft. my 18v cordless is good for small projects, but i find myself using hand tools for the most part unless driver. im just a weekend bolt on guy at best so don’t need anything more than pliers.
