Had an eventful evening. Not the good kind. A neighbor's tree fell and hit our roof. Everyone is fine, but the house took a hit. Roof, soffit, gutter, etc are damaged and the tree came to a rest on our deck.
Ruined my plans for grilling last night...lol
Called my insurance company and they are sending out a contractor. I need to find a tree service to remove the tree.
I'm glad you are all safe GAFIT. Your house will be fixed. I love big trees, but if one is near a house it needs to be looked at by a certified arborist. If any problems are found they need to be dealt with & not ignored. Trouble is that hardly ever happens.
The house I'm in now had a huge dead maple tree that was ready to fall on the house. It was in a protected wetland that borders our house. We were told it couldn't be removed, but we knew better. After a letter to our management company explaining our concerns & their liability it was removed. I love trees & nature, but some of it can get you.
Back on topic glad your family is safe.
Edit.... Pine trees have a very shallow root system. It doesn't seem to take much for them to topple over.

Yeah gonna take apart passenger side and recheck everything I touched. It only started after the suspension changes. Car was silent before. Read thru that post and I'll check the suggestions they listed. But it sounds more from the rear than the front which is why i believe its RSB related.
Define 'cheap'...premium 91 octane lingers around 3.60-3.90/gallon here in SoCal...darn taxes.
Shinjari did you have the suspension under load when you put the end links back on the RSB? If not one or both sides could be under a bind causing your noise. I hope this is easy to find. Chasing noises is no fun.
Gas pains, here gas isn't too very bad @ $3.24 a gallon for 93 octane. I've always liked a car that gets decent mileage. For me about 30 mpg is decent. As I get older I'm thinking more about how much resources I use. The next generation will need fuel too. I'm no eco warrior, but I do care. Your mileage may vary. ;-)
shinjari- i think $4.50 or something yesterday since i pumped $48 and got like 10.5 gallons. but this is premium so that is cheap. when gas (regular) was near $5 range back 10 yrs ago, premium was like near $6 i think
will test it out tonight to make sure it works and friday will install with my kid.
if dry will use ramps out side, if wet will remove bumper and work on it inside.
is Global Ceramic any good vs Llumar Pinnacle? my tint guy is just overbooked and another shop is willing to get me in next week to do my WRX.. price is like $50 cheaper but it could be because he wants new clients.
I looked at Global...they were what I used on the GF's elantra. But just their basic line, not the ceramic. It does well. Also what I have on the Civic. Does well. The Hyundai had a line that didn't guarantee against fading but the civic guarantees against that. Both guaranteed against bubbles/peeling.
Thats exactly what I was thinking Ash...I think the suspension was NOT under load when I put the passenger side on...I put the driver under load by using my jack...think i overlooked it. There should be enough room still for me to not have to jack up the car and disconnect the links and reinstall them under load.
Got an ebay coupon for today only (PRONTO15)....15% off any purchase over $25....up to a $100 max discount. SO I did what any car guy would...and looked to see if those Konig Ultraforms I've had in my cart would qualify...and they do! Instead of being $775 for a new set...its $675 shipped to my door.
Now its to decide which width/offset to get since they are within $5. I need to measure my current setup.
People seem to run 18x9.5 +35 with no rubbing. So either way I think I'd be good.
Hard to go wrong with the wider wheels in my mind. Maybe get a bit more tramlining or whatever they call it when it follows grooves, but seems worth it for the extra adhesion. You'll be down on weight either way, so that's a good thing! Getting new tires or running your OEM's? Your stock size tire looks to be good up to a 9.5" rim, so I think you're good to go on the 9's.

I was looking at a few things, but I'm going to pare it down a bit since I have a huge arse tree across my back deck and a $1000 homeowners deductible staring me in the face
Think I'll just pick up a Megan downpipe for the Fit. I see it as almost necessary with the turbo kit. Figure my 200k mile cats probably don't flow what they once did.
Yeah the 235/40/18s will get put on the new wheels. Should be fine on the 9s. I just dont want to rub/alter wheel wells. Local guy I know run 18x9.5 +35 (very wide) and another runs 19x9.5 +45mm (similar to the 9 +38mm) had to alter a tab on the front but nothing in the rear. Granted they are both on 2"+ drops...so I should be in better shape with my conservative drop.
Both current setup and Konigs look good...I feel the 10lbs unsprung weight would be HUGE on handling/power and potentially MPGs?
Currently
Wheels in question/cart lol. Suspension on this is Eibach Sportlines so 0.25" lower.
FWIW, I've never noticed a fuel mileage improvement when going to lighter wheel/tire combinations. Maybe because the heavier wheels have more force to stay in motion?
What I have noticed is a decent improvement in feel, braking, and handling. Never noticed an improvement in quarter mile times either. I mean, maybe a tenth or something, but not enough to justify picking one similar sized wheel over another. I'm sure a set of 24" gold spinners would slow you down, but probably not a difference between various 18" performance type alloys.
yah braking and steering response is greatly improved as gafit mentioned.. but with electric steering not sure how much of dat translates back to your hands.
acceleration is also improved with added wheel spin (GTI).. shakes head..
Used the eBay coupon to buy the Megan downpipe for the Fit and a new stainless oyster band for one of my Seiko's. Maybe would have taken more advantage, but house repairs are looming.
Tree service coming tomorrow to clean up the mess and tarp the roof.
yah, down pipe should make ur GD sound pretty mean too.
got home, did a few house chores and worked on fixing the bezel on the DRL for the STI i got today. thing is pretty cheaply made even though people were giving raving reviews on it. anyway will decide later if i want to install it or not.
I dodged a bullet yesterday. Managed to not buy a new lens for my camera.
Light wheels I think are noticed more on a light low powered car like my Miata. Although I went with looks rather than performance when I bought Panasports. The wheels on my GTI are 12 pounds lighter than the OEM's, but I can't feel a difference.
GAFIT nice score on the down-pipe. Hope the house & tree removal go well.
Ken if those DRL aren't up to your standards don't put them on. They will always bug you every time you look at them.
