so it looks like da only difference dat would affect me is carplay.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cne...x-sti-changes/

depending on da price i’m okay with not having carplay. never know, apple might not even exist 3 yrs from now. lol

Just keep in mind that CarPlay and AndroidAuto are expanding all the time. They are both offering more and more integration. I won't buy a car without it even though I'm not a big user yet.

iOS 12 is supposed to allow much more third party app integration. Once google maps and Waze are supported, I will be a MUCH bigger fan of CarPlay.

Part of what has me looking at CarPlay as mandatory is GA passed a new hands free law that makes it illegal to even touch your phone while driving. Other states are doing the same.

Things like music streaming, podcasts, navigation, etc are difficult if not impossible to manage without either integration or touching the phone at times.

For me, it's even worth waiting for the '19 Civic release to see if they upgrade the system to the one in the '18 Accord. I'm not a fan of the current Civic system. My Dad has that unit in his CR-V and it SUCKS compared to my Ford Sync and the one in our VW. Most would be totally fine with it, but I like good tech.

Pouring through more and more 10th Gen Civic stuff and I'm really impressed with what that 1.5 can handle.

I can already tell that a big turbo kit would be in my future if I get one.

yah interesting indeed. i suppose i can use VR with siri while in da wrx without carplay.
that is how i use my iphone in my STI. it’s not bad since i’m more of a pandora user and pandora runs natively, still have access to music from screen.

maps is a little pita but i can get a mount for da phone i suppose. da wrx limited i’m getting comes with nav though with keyless and HK

Well I got my Ktuner locked to my ECU and I flashed a tune here at my work parking lot this morning haha.

Guess I'll see how it does when I go out for lunch.

Sheesh...I paid $22.5 for my hatch + taxes/fees etc. SI had so much to offer mechanically...but not functionally. ><

It's a BS law that I hope gets repealed because it literally says that the phone can not touch any part of your body.

For the life of me I can't figure out any difference between operating the phone in a mount vs using the touch screen display in a car. My phone is more intuitive than any cars infotainment system.

You can mindlessly play with the cars touch screen all you want, but don't dare have your finger touch the phone. Makes no sense, but it's a law that is spreading.

But, I am not in favor of ANY new laws. We already have waaay too many laws of all kinds in all areas.

The Si gains a ton of features over a Sport...

climate control
push button start
android auto/car play
the whole driver information system
satellite radio

List goes on and on.

However, the Sport has one HUGE thing over the Si...a hatch!

An Si hatch would be ideal, but they don't want to steal sales away from the CTR I guess?

Just because I was curious, I looked up the curb weights. Thought I'd share...

Sport Hatch - 2871
Si Coupe - 2889
Si Sedan - 2906
Type R - 3117

So, coupe, hatch, and sedan are all basically the same and the CTR is ~200lbs heavier. All are light compared to most anything else on the road.

Wouldn't take a lot of work for an Si to beat the CTR in a drag race I bet.

In a drag race? No. On a real race track? Ehh. CTR will work for a lot longer than a strung out 1.5T too.

They're built in two different plants.

All the hatches (CTR included) are built in the UK IIRC. No sense to send Si parts to two distant locales for one niche trim level.

gafit 2889 is light for a car dis day. and yah probably easily beat da ctr if going just straight. ctr’s gearbox might even explode on its own. lol

I meant that the Si would not need many mods to beat a stock CTR in a drag race.

Without question though, starting with the 2.0 gives a whole lot more potential.

The Accord Sport 2.0 manual, if offered with a limited slip diff, would be a neat car.
