Anybody make fun of your Fit?
i had 2 hispanic guys laughing at my car when i came out of the gym. I asked them "hable ingles?" they said yes. i said wtf are you laughing at? they said my car. i asked them if they had a chance to stand back and look at their multi colored (side damage with 2 donor doors from diff color cars) 1989 Camry with 2 spare tires on it. They both instantly STFU and got in their car.
that's the only one in the 2 years i have had it.

When we first picked the car up an old lady yells, "WHY'S YOUR CAR GOT SUCH SMALL WHEELS?!" "I DON'T KNOW WHY YOU'D WANT A CAR WITH SUCH SMALL WHEELS LIKE THAT!"
It's a Fit Sport, and the wheels are the same size as those on her 90's Chevy Lumina. People are weird.

Only from people who think it's not a suitable dyke car!
I've had a couple people tell me that no respectable dyke would buy a car that you can't fit any stuff in. Once I tell them about the various means of folding the seats up and down (especially if I show them the brochure that shows how you can put a llama in the car in tall mode), then they approve. It's got everything else going for it in terms of a good dyke car -- good mileage, cute, comes in funky colors, great for driving like a maniac, etc.
I bought my Fit partly BECAUSE it has 15" wheels. 15" wheels and tires are almost always lighter than 16's or 17's, and they're almost always cheaper, too. I'll admit that I like the look of larger wheels on a Fit, but I'll probably never do a plus size. Sticky 205/50's are dirt cheap, and if good 15x6" wheels were more common, it would be a near-perfect autoX setup.
I'm half tempted to put some little "15" stickers on my front fenders...

the othe day i kind of got a compliment and an insult. i was sitting out side of best buy waiting for my brother to get out of work when this mom who was loading her kid into a corolla poked her head into my window.
first she asked me if it was a honda fit because it didnt look like any fits that she had seen. i told her that because ive done some modifications to it. she said that it was cute and that she liked what i had done with it.
everything was cool until... well let me start by saying that i am a pretty big guy 6ft 220lbs... so after she tells me that she likes it she asks me in this woah holy shit voice, "oh my god you actually fit in this thing?!? i was going to get one but decided not to because i didnt think ::this is her hesitating to say what she was going to:: fat people could ride in these.
needless to say i was flabergasted that a total stranger, who wasnt in the best shape her self would say something like that. the thing that ticked me off was that yea im a large person. but am in no way fat. this woman made me out to be some morbidly obese whale.

The fat chics all seem to drive them and they think I drive one too.

Just since Friday I have been getting a lot more attention due to the red bucket seat. Some positive some negative but those negative are mostly from people who would be asshats to anyone.
The most annoying one was "You actually race that Piece of S*&t?" What irratated me was that it came from a kid that was probably 19 yrs old in a beat up D15 powered EF hatch. haha He had drift stickers all over it, mismatched fenders and no hatch glass. WTF?
dude didnt you get the memo??? faux jdm decals off of ebay, and mismatched body parts are the in thing right now. those are just a few signs of a serious automotive enthusiast. as for the missing hatch glass... it was discarded to save some weight and having no hatch glass combined with a park bench spoiler on any civic creates a tornado like vortex at the rear of the car which is needed to keep it from flying.
doesnt it seem like the only people who show no love are the ones rolling in the biggest pieces of crap? its all jealousy.
but i think with the rise in gas prices and the fit building such a large following in such a short amount of time america is realizing its potential and they want it. i saw a thread either on here or H-T about the dealership down the street from my house. they had a NHBP fit sport A/T with something like 20k miles on it and it sold for a little over 22k!!! i think it sat in their used lot for no more than 2 days.

Ok kind of a long post here but what the hell...
On one of my other forums everyone loves to put down the fit.... this one guy told me he would rather mid 30's for highway MPG in supercharged cobalt the drive a "torqueless egg"
to which I replied
Heres another example... the guy talks about how his cavalier gets good gas mileage and that he would never drive a Fit because they aren't safe... he said "hate to see them in a crash. Where i live i would rather hit a deer and be safe in my gas guzzling ford explorer then a soda can car."
my reply.... (yes I even stole some pics posted on this forum LOL)
he never responded back LOL
another example, this one went back and forth for a couple times
"The Fit looks great, at least yours does but seriously....besides gas mileage...why would you get a Fit? The last time I checked the engine specs on it you could have pushed me over with a feather I was laughing so hard."
him again-
room??
!!
alright, let's make a comparison here.....a Cavalier.....and a new Honda Fit hatchback......do we even need to bring up the images to make this comparison??!!??
Buying a Honda Fit for extra room is like buying a 40GB Hard Drive to install Windows Vista 64 bit on it!
him-
unless the Fit your driving is a newer model than the Fit I saw outside my apartment a few months ago looked like something that was designed for Gary Coleman's offspring! If the Fit your driving is the same one I saw, I believe none of what you just said above lol.
btw, my dad owns a Ford Escape, I'm very well aware of the amount of room in the front seats and there is no way in hell the Fit "I saw" could possibly have more leg and head room than the Ford Escape! Did they make a smaller model of the Fit?
then he stopped talking
Now I honestly don't care what people think of my cars, I came from a Cavalier, obviously a car is not a status symbol that I'm concerned with. I just like to argue, I like to use facts to make people look stupid when they know it all based off blind assumptions and brand loyalty. I had one person accuse me of talking up the car just because I had one... I'm like dude, I did research before buying the car, its not the best because I have one, I have one BECAUSE its the best (option its class). I just find it entertaining going back forth with someone, some people get so worked up and what not based on things said on a forum.
The only people I've ran into that legitimately think bad about the fit are the people who are biased based on the emblems on the car or can't get passed the HP rating.

"everyone puts down the Fit.... I guess I'm one of the few who values gas mileage, safety, build quality, versatility, space, handling, extremely low cost of ownership, even lower cost to operate, and comfort over engine size and hp when looking for a daily driver thats gonna be a family car and the last new car I buy for a long long long time. No one can seem to understand that, no one can fathom that horse power ratings were not even taken into consideration for looking at options"
my reply.... (yes I even stole some pics posted on this forum LOL)
"Do you just flat out make @!#$ up based on nothing or do you just decide to ignore FACTS?
I did plenty of research on the Honda Fit before I bought one...
2002 Chevy Cavalier Crash test ratings... (out of 5 stars)
Frontal impact drivers side - 3 stars
Frontal impact passenger side - 4 stars
Side impact front occupant - 1 star
Side impact rear occupant - 2 stars
2008 Honda Fit Crash test ratings... (out of 5 stars)
Frontal impact drivers side - 5 stars
Frontal impact passenger side - 5 stars
Side impact front occupant - 5 star
Side impact rear occupant - 3 stars
And since you seem to think your Ford Exploder is so much safer...
2004 Ford Explorer Crash test ratings.... (out of 5 stars)
Frontal impact drivers side - 4 stars
Frontal impact passenger side - 5 stars
Side impact front occupant - 5 star
Side impact rear occupant - 5 stars
Look at that.... if your driving the Explorer and you hit a deer (or something bigger) your less safe then you would be driving the Fit.... the only way your better off in the Explorer is back seat passengers when you get t-boned.... and the Cavalier is the "soda can car" not the Fit. Plus my Fit still gets better gas millage then both your explorer and your cav.
if you do better with visuals then written facts...
Here's a Honda Fit that managed to get tangled up between a guard rail and a big truck on the highway...
notice how the passenger compartment is completely untouched, hell the doors didn't even ripple

everyone died because the car crumpled like a soda can
At least get your facts straight if your gonna talk @!#$..."

There lots of reasons for the Fit...
Gas mileage, like I said 39.1 mpg city, I can't complain about that. Interior space space (read reply to your next quote). Safety, the Fit has lots of 5 star crash ratings, front air bags, side air bags, side curtain airbags, its a very very safe car and according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration(NHTSA) "the Fit has the highest level of standard safety equipment of any car in its competitive set." And the price... they are cheap, sticker price was about $4,000 less my silver cav! And this is a FAR nicer car, power windows, auto down drivers window, power mirrors, power locks, keyless entry, cruise control, 200 watt 6 speaker sounds system with cd player and aux input jack, ABS, the ground effects and spoiler, 15" rims (not the 14" steelies) 6 air bags, intermittent wipers, immobilizer, turns off passenger airbags if no one on that side, fog lights, A/C, EBD system for the brakes, mirrors in the visors, adjustable steering column, steering wheel controls, the "magic seats" in the rear.... Alot of the stuff you can get a fully loaded cav but the fit and finish and quality of the Fit vs a cav...... the interior is infinitely nicer then the cav, it doesn't feel cheap, it doesn't rattle and squeek, it looks nicer, everything feels more stable and firm inside. Theres ALOT more room and its a legitimately nice car, especially for the price.
Yes the car is only 1.5L that puts out like 110 hp..... but the car only weighs 2400 lbs, its not fast, it run like a high 16 maybe? But why do I need anything faster for daily driving? The lightweight and very nimble handling is what I enjoy, not straight line acceleration.
I love this car, my only complaint is that a sunroof is not an option, but I got over that real quick.
And I'm not the only one who thinks this...
It won Car and Drivers 10 Best award, Cars.com Best Deal award, Consumer Guide Recommended Best Buy, Popular Mechanics Automotive Excellence Award for Value. Its a Consumer Reports Recommended vehicle, they also said for 2008 the best cars sold in the U.S. are made by Honda, and that the Honda Fit Sport 5-speed is the best MPG for your buck of any new car on the market. It got Motor Week's Driver's Choice award, IntelliChoice "excelent" rating as well as "best in class" award. JD Power gave it a perfect rating for "overall mechanical quality", and reliability, as well as an award for "APEAL (Performance & Design): Highest ranked in Sub-Compact Car Segment" and a 4.5 out of 5 for initial quality, on Yahoo Autos, the Fit was named "Best car for $25,000 or less", Car and Driver - $15,000 Cheap Skates "What truly set the Fit apart was its handling — not a pretense of handling but the real deal, with springs and struts that allowed one gentle rebound and no more, the only car here that felt happy storming the switchbacks. We later confirmed this when the Fit sailed through our lane-change test 6 mph faster than anything else here — faster, in fact, than a Corvette Z06."

Wow you really have no idea what your talking about do you? Honest question, did you just blindly assume the car is has no space?
The Fit has more leg room and head room up front then a Ford Escape SUV. The Fits "maximum cargo capacity" is 42 cubic feet and thats just the back, thats without the passenger seat folded flat... cavaliers "maximum cargo capacity" is 13 cubic feet. Not to mention you can fit something over 4 feet tall standing upright inside the car.
To go along with that.....
Put the "magic seats" in long mode and pull the front wheel and you can fit a tandem bike (the 2 person bikes) INSIDE the car

some website was playing around with a fit and decieded to cram a bunch of shit into it...... all this in it at once.
"kept loading things into it, and I was able to get all this stuff into the car: one adult mountain bike, one kid's bike, one 8' 4" Surftech surfboard, one large cooler, one fully-loaded hockey bag, and one hockey stick. I was amazed."

You have no idea how roomy this tiny car is.

Nope same model. The Fit only LOOKS small.
I didn't say the interior was bigger then an escape, I said the front has more head and leg room...
(edmunds.com)
2008 Honda Fit front head room - 40.6 in
2008 Ford Escape front head room -40.4 in
2008 Honda Fit front leg room - 41.9 in
2008 Ford Escape front leg room -41.6 in
you can believe whatever you want but facts are facts.... it might not be by much but the Fit does more head and leg room in the front (which is what matters to me).

Its not all bad though...
I was at Rammy's (local sandwich place) the owner pulled up in his H2 and came inside, and he looks at me and says "Is that blue Honda yours?" I'm say yeah its mine. He turns and looks at it and hes like "man that thing is cool looking... does it go? It looks aggressive, it looks fast." I'm like no, it has absolutely no get up and go but it'll get my 39 mpg around town. He says "either way its a cool car, I like it" and he walks off.
LOL first (well only) time I ever got that reaction from the Fit

I get the obvious small car comments, but the best one i get all the time is "Your a big dude getting out out of the small car!"... I'm a 225lb bodybuilder, lol. Actually i get more positive comments on my Fit then any other car I've had.
No Respect
Most everybody loves the fit, thinks its cool, questions if there is any room in it. BUTT I do have a co-worker who asks if my fit is what I drive to my real car! He's okay though because he likes Ford a lot and I have a weakness for that tendency. I must confess I was searching for a used Ford Focus when I picked up my nearly new fit. I know it will be rolling well past the Focus in the long run.
Hate on people. As for the earlier post about fat people "fitting" in the Fit. I'm a little on the fluffy side & fabulous - yeah I can get in my car easy & get out of that moutha in a hoot. Again, hate on but it's awesome on the mpg!!!

hahaha.
