Anybody make fun of your Fit?
i've only gotten crap for my sporty car, but never the fit or jetta so far. people can be thoughtlessly mean... just smile or say something nice, sometimes good people have terrible openers...

that is the one thing that shuts people up now is gas mileage. the other day another one of the doctors that i work with who drives a c6 corvette came in and told me that he parked next to my match box car, he then laughed and giggled about how i drove a chick car.
i then told him lets start at the beginning of lime creek road (one of the twistiest and fun to drive roads in the austin area, when your charging at a good 55-60 mph its a good 9 to 10 minutes of curve after curve with alot of crazy elevation changes) and race to the nearest gas station, i will bet you 100 bucks you will kill me on the straights, but i will either keep up with you or completely crush you on the curves, and when we get to the gas station i wont have to fill up. after i said that he didnt say a word
.
in this day and age i dont think there is any thing better than being able to keep up with cars that arent any where near our class on the curves and knowing that when all the fun is done that we more than likely wont have to gas up.

.I hate to say it but he was probably utterly shocked that you said that. There is absolutely no way on the planet earth that the Fit competes with a C6 in any way. On any given road or corner, the C6 will absolutely crush the Fit like a tin can. To boot, the C6 is actually a pretty damn fuel efficient car (heard people getting 28 mpg on the freeway).
I can see the guy posting on the internet now “a guy in a Fit told me he could keep up with me or crush me on a long set of curvy roads”. I’m actually embarrassed for you.
(I normally don’t do this, but I am shocked lol).
My friends call my Fit a Smart car 'cause they know it pisses me off.
Then I go make fun of the fact that they paid 90 bucks for their last fill-up and they cry themselves to bed.
Last part is an exaggeration.

in my experience on this road i have seen alot of people with cars not much larger than the fit get totally messed up because one:the car is to large and to low for the road and two:because unless you have driven on it a time or two you are going to push your car to far thinking that it can handle what you are doing to it. i drive the road every day after work and i still make mistakes on it.
the reason why i even said that is because any one who lives in this area knows what lime creek road is, and any one who is a driver in this area knows what a tough road it is. IMO most middle aged man with a ton of money who drive any perf. car is not going out canyon carving every weekend, and most of the middle aged men who drive those cars look at ours with the least amount of respect. i knew that me saying something like that would either piss him off or shut him up. look at the original post in this thread. some guy driving a mustang felt the need to blurt out some comment about a fit. and why did he do that, because he drive big mustang and big engine make go fast.
trust me i knew what i was doing when i said that to him, i have kept up with alot of cars that you would not think a fit could hang with on that road and changed alot of peoples views on the fit on that road.
yeah, lime creek road is intense

6 speed automatic too..
I believe you when you said you could keep up with the C6 on the twisty's. I have an old 125 hp Morgan and normally can embarrass the new high horsepowered cars on the twisty's. Simple physics - vehicle weight impact on changing direction and slowing for curves and with tight turns the HP doesn't help unless the driver is really skilled and can take advantage of the short strights (sliding sideways does not add to forward motion).
I admit, it is fun to embarrass the expensive cars - I have a V8 supercharged Miata (stock looking) and enjoy staying along side of the vettes and vipors from the stoplight and pretent it is a stock Miata and not even look at the other car as they try and accelerate away and can't.

haha jk.
I just picked up my fit yesterday and so far most people look at it at stop lights or look over at it on the highway. Most people area my area have not heard of nor seen a Honda fit. As far as being made fun of? When I traded my Jeep Rubicon in for the fit, I was expecting that. Instead people say "smart move".
I used to drive a 98 Chevy Metro. 3 cyl 5speed. I got 39MPG city & highway. I AWAYS got made fun of. People would say "a real man wouldnt drive that car". I would reply "It TAKES a real man to drive it".
The Metro was $9800 brand new but looked and felt like a budget car. The Fit is SO much nicer. Also the Metro was REALLY slow. . .the Fit is a race car when compared.

I also had a Geo Metro xFi, 89, that I sold prior to buying the Fit.
My Metro did yeoman duty as company gofer car. Hauled tires, TVs, cinder block, anything it was asked to do. Overall mileage for 195,000 miles was 48.8 mpg and high was 61.2 on the way to Sebring to deliver race car stuff. Total cost for the 195k miles was 8.86c/mile for every last dime spent, inc insurance, maintenance, repairs (killed a dear on the way back from Charlotte one nite, taped headlights in place and drove home), tires, gas and Mobil 1, everything. Way better than any other car I've owned (142 of them) and dear to my heart. Ours wasbn't slow and easily kept up with traffic. Top speed around Charlotte Motor Speedway was 87 mph.
The guy that bought it needed economical car for his daily 65 mile trip to work in Fayetteville. Heard from his friend that he's still going with the xFi and laughing all the way. The only part failure was the alternator.gave up at 150k.
Yes, the Fit is nicer, has air and sport automatic but isn't a replacement for my Xfi. As a retiree tho I need more comfort and care. And yes my Fit handles track duty much better than the Geo but I'm not sure it accelerates any better.
cheers.
PS I bought mine for $8588 in Lexington,SC. Best deal I've ever gotten.

good luck getting them.
i did call the cops, but they rly didnt do anythin but take a report. I hate cops. Ill keep you guys posted on what hapens.
I've given a few people a ride in my fit, some have even driven it.
they look at it before they get in and they say, "woah you drive THIS?!"
then they giggle a little.
then they sit down and they tell me how nice the interior is.
ask me how much it cost.
ask me the mileage.
tell me how nice of a car it is.
and as everyone else is saying, it's really fun to pull the gas card!
