Are people buying Fit's for the wrong reasons?
But why would you spend 16,000 on a chasis? If your dropping in a K20 then you obviously didnt buy the Fit for the fuel economy. Wouldnt it be a better idea to get say a civic hatch if you want to drop a K20?
Im not telling people what they should do with their car or telling them that modification is pointless. But im just curious as to why people do such drastic modifications that effect the fuel economy, the #1 selling point of the car.
P.S. You can even get an AP1 S2000 with a chasis twice as rigid and more power than a K20 for less than 16,000. Although its not as practical.

Reasons I bought my Fit:
-Relability - I just dumped my Ford product that left me stranded way too many times for a car I bought brand new. Consumer Reports says it is good, then I am interested. Consumer Reports was loving this car.
-Price - The Fit is inexpensive. Sure, the Versa is cheaper but it has no style and isn't anywhere close to the Fit in reliability.
-Gas Miliage - Gas is expensive, nuff said.
-4 doors/5 person - My old car was a 2 door and could only seat 4. The 2 in the back got screwed because it was a tight squeeze back there. The passengers in the back of the Fit have no complaints.
-Cargo room - Drop the seats and load in the big stuff.
-Style - It looks good, espesially the interior. I looked at the interior of a Versa a co-worker rented and I thought I sat down in an old K-car. It was so boring. I have to drive this car every day. I need something that looks nice. (Oooo...dreamy blue dash lights.
)
-Function - I am a function over form guy. I like both, but function is more important. All the little things are there that make this car work. They call it a "Fit" because it fits everything I need!
Nope, performance is not on my list. It isn't important to me. Well, not racing performance. I need something that can get up and go against traffic but not a "fast" car. This Fit is good there. But if someone wants to to turn their Fit into a racer, it's their money. No it doesn't make sense to me. But then I do stuff that doesn't make sense to others.
