The next big thing
Now that Fits have started arriving and people seem delighted with them, the next big thing will be who's getting what gas mileage with them. I have only 100 miles so far so I can't tell how its going to be and it takes a while to break a new engine in anyway so lets start an MPG thread - Basic or Sport? MT or AT? city or highway and general average speed?
If you are going to start a thread you need to set out basic parameters for comparing. It can't be comparing apples and oranges.
How are people measuring their usage? My binlaw said he took one trip to another city and that was his gas mileage for the life of the car. Not!
I posted my first mileage as only a preliminanary reading but I never take one as the end all. I take readings over several months, and average them out.
Hard to see how a new engine will work in, air temp., weather, wind, traffic, etc.
I take my readings from a full fill just to when the nozzle shuts off the pump and measure from there over several fills. (Honda manual says to allow room for expansion.)
As a side note, the day I picked up my LX the price of our gas rose and did again over the weekend. Price was 99.9 on 4/4 and today it rose to 107.9.
(That's about 36C rise for a U.S gal.)
I'm the only guy pumping gas that has a grin on his face.

There is already an mpg thread. Actually I am suprised how many repeat threads there are here.

For the first 150 miles I was getting about 30 mpg. The next 150 miles used 2.87 gallons (topped off to brim) - thats 52 MPG !! Granted I am a hypermiler with 44 PSI tires, never over 65 mph ( still breaking in) and hilly but no traffic, conditions. In this type of driving with my Insight I would usually get into the 70's mpg (2000, 5 spd 168Kmi). So the Fit is capable of very good mileage.
