it has finally took it's toll

bought the fit mainly business/work purpose and as much as I'm telling myself to just leave it stock... I didn't. It's one disease that's hard to cure. Okay enough with the bs

The nature of my work includes includes opening and closing (I don't slam to close, I guide it through until gravity sets in and do the rest) the hatch 20-35 times a day. First that gave in was the mediocre hatch handle (yes that this is just FAIL) and yesterday I'm now hearing "tinny" rattling noise on the hatch, between the plastic panel and hatch itself. Not really complaining (okay I was with the hatch handle) as I'm expecting some type of rattling to occur in the future. Well here's future 4 months later of hatch use

GO FIT GO!!!

rattle

My rear hatch had a rattle in it within the first couple of weeks of ownership. I took it back to the dealer and they found some plastic clip had gotten loose inside & re-attached it--perhaps that is all that is going on with the rattle part.

one solution for rattles is to simply hope they go away.
"hope" has been reasonably successful for me... rattles seem to appear and disappear in my fit.

DON'T dynamat, you'll regret it in a few years. if you do anything, do lizard skin, it's also lighter and sprays on.

^^ that's exactly why I want him to elaborate on why you would regret dynamat.

i have heard horror stories and seen what it does even if there is a slight wrinkle in it and the smallest bit of moisture gets in (with a hatch it's inevitable that some kind of water will get there). over time it turns into a complete mess:

that's a picture of water that got in under the dynamat and corroded the shit out of the sheet metal underneath. here's another

pics taken from New Interior that has Snowballed out of control!!

plus, the weight the dynamat adds to the hatch will wear out the struts sooner. that stuff is HEAVY!

Ok, that's a legitimate reason to be wary of dynamat, especially in a state that sees alot of moisture or snow

never use dynamat if surface is not fully prepped... I mean FULLY PREPPED for application and the right condition. I never use dynamat anyways. I sound deadened my 6th gen accord with quick roof.

as for the rattle... it is still present. not really major but it is a sign of more prominent rattles to come. I'm letting it be for now and deal with it come spring.

WOW !!!! I almost ordered this dyna-shit
this is a blessing-n-disguise thread...
where can i get this "lizard skin" or "quick roof" or "peel and seal" or " http://www.cofair.com/sb60.aspx"
"Cascade" or "Raamatt" sound deadening?

which is the lightest and most durable

what is the proper way, to apply a sound deadening material? what tools do you need to buy?
i want to do it right.
i was at home depot the other day and saw this air-con insulation will it work???
this is DD/family car
thanks again
