Got A New Fit!

well my girlfriend just bought a brand new black 2010 base model Fit. only options installed was tint. worst part about the car is that keyless entry did not come standard. there are already several scratches around the key hole. anybody know the best aftermarket solution? i was thinking Viper so she could get locks, alarm, and start. i had that installed on my 99 silverado about 4 years ago for about 200 bucks is it still that cheap?

also i was looking up the headlight bulbs to get an HID kit from DDMtuning.com and just wanted to clarify something, its the 9003 or H4 bulb(these are the same?). its hi/low combo bulb right, and for the HIDs to work you donot have to get error code eliminators or any thing like that right?

sorry for all the questions

we both love the car allot, but god dont you just hate car salesman

Cole

the good news is that your fit already has the receiver and electronics installed for keyless all you need is to buy the sport key and look up on the forum how to program it to your car. you can either cut off the key portion and make a fob out of it, or have the key cut and programmed. your dealer will charge about 65 for the uncut key, but you can buy it online for as cheap as 38 dollars

when i bought my base fit i offered the dealer 150 to install keyless and they wouldn't do it ... boy am i glad they didn't

Yea 9003/H4/HB2 are all the same when it comes to the Fit.

If you are going to install HIDs, you should pull the DRL fuse to eliminate the warning light that will come on. Also, retrofit/projectors ftw

The remote is not included with the base package, nor are floormats (pre-2011).

Why would the dealer throw in free stuff like that? When you traded your old car (assuming you traded a car for the Fit or have traded another car in the past) did you go buy a new set of floormats for it and an extra remote to give to the dealer just for fun?

If these things were important to you, you could have had them added as part of the deal.

I just wanna clarify something for anyone wondering, if you are installing HID's Xenons that have a halogen bulb for the high beam(NOT BI--XENON or LO ONLY) then you DO NOT need to pull the DRL fuse, they actually still work.

The DRL's use the Halogen bulb at a low voltage which if you have Xenon Lo, Halogen Hi will be fine. It is only when you have BiXenons do you have to pull the fuse because xenons cannot operate at this lo voltage safely and if you have lo only then there is nothing to run at lo voltage and u wont even have high beams, crazy to me. Thats my .02 enjoy!

PS, i got my 10,000k xenon head and fogs from tspny.com. Really good quality and not pricey!

the base already has the security system
installed you only need the REMOTE KEY which u can buy at ebay = $30 (this is OEM) btw, free shipping. the parts manager told me that.

i have owned honda's before, i had an "06 civic base model when i bought it brand new, the floormats / remote key were included. that dealer
even waived the destination fee !!! $570 at that time

if they want to give it they will...MOFO"S

Java:

So if I buy one of those H4 bulb (may be 6k), I don't have to pull the DRL fuse (I think is #15)?

I have reading the forum, some said yes and others said no.

This depends on which type of Xenon HID's you go with. The H4 from tspny.com is a Hi(Halogen)-Lo(Xenon) which is what i have and you will not need to pull the fuse.

My wife and I put the Viper keyless in via Best Buy. It was less than $150 installed but ours did not come with an engine start feature. We did not find out about the inexpensive generic programmable keys you can have cut -- at the time the single OEM Honda keyless key at college honda was like $100 -- until a day or two after we installed the Viper. Oh, I would recommend the center armrest console as well in terms of upgrades. Congrats on the car!
