my fit vandalized!!!!

found out this morning when i tried to open the passenger side door that someone tried to break into my car. they damaged the lock and made a dent just below where they pushed in the lock portion on the handle.

Those mofo's must have used a screwdriver of some sort and wiggled it around causing the dent. 3 months ago it was my van that got vandalized so this really pisses me off. now i gotta pay another $300 deductible

Our insurance here in vancouver, requires you to pay the deductible even if its broken glass and so on.

Same thing happened with my last car. Except it was the same car that was broken into twice. I feel your pain and I know it f***ing sucks. The first time it happend I had to have my passenger window replaced, the door repainted and the door panel replaced. The second time I only had to replace the glass. At least they didn't break the glass in your scenario, b/c cleaning out the glass in my car was the worst, because you never can get every piece.

Sorry to hear about your problem. Sucks that they dented your car in the process.

What in the world would they be after in a Fit? It's not like the stock head unit would fit in any other car...

i live in burnaby, near metrotown area...
just came back from the shop...car is going in next monday for repairs.
they will put new lock, re-code it and will have to paint both doors(front and back) just to fix the dent(they said that the paint on the dent has been broken). oh yeah, plus i get to pay $300 deductible .
they said they can just replace the lock/recode for $150....after going to Honda they said if im selling the car im better off getting the dent fixed..so i will.
Thanks all for hearing me rant

the Honda dealership i went to this morning said that if i trade it in i would loose the taxes i put in plus the depriciation..he mentioned that the break even point is at about 2yrs.
If i dont sell this car... i might just keep it til next May. Either i trade it in or sell privately. In the meantime i will be saving up to put money down on an escalade ext or see what i can get for my fit on a trade in for the avalanche next May....we'll see

Break even makes no sense, especially with a car. It isn't an investment...

2 years is $6,000 in insurance to ICBC (I'm paying $3000 a year), plus depreciation (another 6k?) . What exactly are you breaking...

unfortunately cars arent investments . break even point ie: lets say that i trade my car in, in 2yrs time and i still owe 10 grand on the car and the dealer gives me 10 for it...thats break even point.

earlier this year my sister was wanting to trade her 04 focus at the dealership she still owed 12 grand on her car and the dealer is giving her 9 grand for her car = negative equity( the 3 grand difference would just be added to the new car she is geting).

thanks

my co-worker went through ING for her car insurance. said it's better than ICBC.

I'd be carteful-- they only tried to break into your Fit, but here in the States the Escalade is near the top of the list for cars actually stolen.

Yes, paying $3128 this year, to be exact. $3 mill coverage, 300 comprehensive deductible, $500 collision deduct, work, Class 7N
I was quoted $3400+ for a Civic.

Recent immigrant, 5% discount, did not drive in Hong Kong.

Trade in your Fit for an Escalade? The Escalade is THE NUMBER ONE MOST STOLEN VEHICLE today, according to current insurance reports:

http://www.forbesautos.com/advice/to.../vehicles.html

You must be a glutton for punishment.
