I'm thinking of buying a new Fit. It's 2017 or wait for 2018. Is there any thing known about the 2018 model that would make it worth waiting for? Thanks.

 

the only thing i can think of is infortainment related *IF* they introduce carplay. if that's not important to you, probably just get the current model year.

is the fit due for a refresh pretty soon? if you like the current design, might want to grab one now. i know honda often times do cosmetic refresh for the worse..

 

Lets see. When You drive the car off the lot it drops in value. Every model year change, it drops in value. So unless you're getting a smoking deal on a 2017, why would you want to buy a car when in 2-3 months it will take another hit in value? If you can wait, than wait.

 

Whether the book value of your car is important or not really depends on whether or not you're selling it (be it to an insurance company or to a dealer or a private party). If you don't intend to sell the car anytime soon, this make little practical difference. On the other hand, for someone who tends to get new cars fairly frequently, that's a valid concern.

For keeping the car for a long time, I would actually also advise waiting, and then if there haven't been any changes you care about, trying to get a smoking deal on a 2017.

 

I think, buy now...or wait...it all depends on you.

If you like the 2017, and whatever configuration you are purchasing TODAY...you like it. Then it's a good purchase.

You can always worry about what might be "next". You can never really know. You can wait, and find you do NOT like the changes. You can purchase today, and LOVE the next incarnation.

So whether you wait, or buy now....just make sure you are happy with what you are purchasing.
If you can afford to wait? And have the patience? I suppose why not wait? Then you can see and compare.

I bought a 2016, in September of last year. Literally weeks/days before the 2017's started to hit the lots.
There was very little to no change between the two model years, and although my period of time for bragging rights of having the 'latest" was short lived, I don't regret it. Because I bought a vehicle I liked....period.

 

I believe you could find a smoking deal on a 2016.

I'm in the used car biz, and have access to inventory data most do not see.

Currently, I see a 2016 with 4,800 mi at auction, and several with under 300mi.

I am not attempting to solicit your business - just saying there are dlrs with new or barely used '16 inventory still available at cut rates.

Too bad Fiat Pops suck. I can get LOADED 2016s with under 100mi for $8100-$8800 right now. Retail is over $13,750.

Anyway, Bob Boythe Honda in Mississippi has a silver, 2016 automatic with 750 miles. Wholesale is around 14k. I bet they'd take 15,500. (Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with Bob Boythe, nor any Honda dealer. I'm just stating what I see in dlr inventory.)

Tomlinson Motors in Gainesville, FL has a white '16 EX CVT with alloys and 280mi. Again, no affiliation.

Looks like Honda Leasing in Orlando has a black '16 EX base, with steel rims and 4k miles. Not sure if they'd sell to public, but wholesale is 13,200. Retail 15,988....

Edit: Wesley Chapel Toyota in Florida has a 2017 Fit LX with 349mi. I bet they would take $14,800.

Honda motor co has a 2017 with SIX miles on it, which I can purchase for 12,250 plus fees (about 12,700). Apparently, it has been repainted due to a transit incident. Regardless, these are just a few deals I found in about a ten-minute search.
