Should I?!?!
if we`re comparing the S5 and M3 then answer these questions and you`ll have your answer.
Are you after brute power and performance or more about a GT feel.
Since you`ll have to look at the interior everyday can you live with how plain the bimmer`s will be.
I say A3 s-line with a few bolt-ons

If I can let go of my Fit for a decent price next summer, I'll probably end up bumping up to either a 135i, A3 S-Line, or G37. S5 is a little too far out of my reach
If it were my cash, the Audi by a slim margin.
The 135i is nice; great MPG, even the loaded price is cheap and it performs a hair slower than the M3 off the line... but I don't think it will stand out in a few years. To spend this much cash I am looking for something to keep for a while, I don't want to feel like I missed out later on.
Thanks for the links by the way!

I am totally keeping my Fit as my DD. Gas prices & Getting door dings is already painful enough, I would end up having a breakdown over it if one of these was my DD.

But the AWD and more refined look from Audi makes it a more practical choice; but then again... this isn't about being practical
In the end I am pretty torn, I want to do some summer road trips and I know the 135i will pay off big time for that. But there is something about cruising around in a 415hp eye catching monster that I think would make up for it

That would be pretty sweet; I was dissapointed with the current A3 because they only made it FWD.
You should save yourself some cash and keep your Fit, then buy a place with a bigger down payment.

OMG don't even TEMPT me!!! The whole purpose of a new car is so I don't have to tune it that much...AHHHHH!!!!
bmw-yack
they are fine cars until they break or you need service. the dealership i was dealing with was horrible. i had a 1997 z3 6cylinder, bought it new from the dealership, and had all sorts of issues with it. the dealer was rude, and would not fix all of the problems. and the dealership was almost an hour away. bad service, the quality of the car was not that good either.
we traded it in on a s2000, and that was such a step up, power roof, way faster, drove better, and the honda dealer always treated us right.
now i have a pilot and its another great honda.
i would never buy another bmw,

hmmm mb I'll just stick with Mercedes then. They've been nothing but top notch to my family since we got our first Mercedes in the mid 90's...but the C class just doesn't cut it for me unless its the C63, but I can't afford that
Yeah the C63 is a really sweet looking car, but no manual offered
I just don't get it.
I was looking at the JB3 plug n' play for the 135i.... adds 70whp/70wtrq with just that option; so basically the car is putting out about 400-420hp at the flywheel... the M3 puts out 415, but weight more
Somebody was getting 0-60mph in 4.2 seconds in an automatic with just that system.
Best part is you can remove it in a few minutes for dealer visits and it trips no codes.

I think I am leaning towards the S5 now
The styling is a little more bland which will make it stick out a bit less and probably keep me out of trouble. AWD is a major benifit and interior comfort seems to be a top priority for Audi, looks like a great car for long summer road trips and still up to the challange when it comes to some fun on the track.

The stock S5 and 135i is supposed to do it in about 4.8s stock. The 135i is actually just a fraction quicker down the quarter mile, also the Audi can only pull a 0.88g skid pad circle while the BMW can do about 0.91.
We can square off on the track next year
I have a feeling we will be joined by somebody else too
