Should I?!?!
Mannnn, I'm having a tough time deciding what I want to do. I really wanna keep my Fit, but I honestly can't see myself keeping it longer than another two years max. And I think I found the car to replace her with.
BMW 135i

Thanks to Jalopnik and 1addicts for the pics!
Yeah I know it looks a little fugly to some like most of the other Bimmers (I on the other hand LOVE how the 1 looks!!!)...especially in coupe form (the only form I think it is offered when it is released Spring 08), but man, what an engine! The 135i has a twin-turbo, three-liter six, 300 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque at 1,400 rpm. Zero to sixty is (hopefully) 5.3 seconds. heck, even the 128i sounds like fun: "3.0-liter, 230 horsepower inline 6-cyinder engine that generates 200 lb-ft of torque, the 128i Coupe will feature Valvetronic valvetrain management and aluminum/magnesium contruction--core elements of BMW's EfficientDynamics"
No pricing yet, but it is much smaller than a 3 series, and the 335i goes for $50,000 and 328i goes for $41,000...I would assume the 1 series will come well below their 3 series counterparts, maybe around $30,000-35,000 for the 128i and $35,000-$40,000 for the 135i. After going on that BMW X-Drive event, I have to say, BMW is high on my list of next cars...I'm gonna be in debt up the wazoo, but mannnnn will this be a bad ass car that you don't want to underestimate!!!
I dunno, I really wanna go down to BMW right now and put a deposit on one regardless of price, strip the Fit down, sell all the parts, find a buyer for her, then pull out a fat loan to get it...oy I hate my addiction...

What puts you off of BMW's?!?! I myself prefer Mercedes over BMW's but the experiences I've recently had with BMW's have made me think otherwise. I really wanna hear what others have to say about them and what kind of experiences you've had...
Nothnig bad against bmw or benz actually. Sorry if it sounded negative. Im just not a beemer guy, or benz for that matter. Nice cars, just not my thing.
My parents are big bmw and benz people, which makes me think I might be adopted as I would hapily trade in a beemer or a benz if i got one for free for something else.

Ditto - just not the car that I would buy if I could afford one. They just don't carry the fun factor or the street factor! I also just can't see spending that much out for a ride - I couldn't sleep at night if I did. Give me a practical car - a Honda and a little on the strange side anyday!

Sweet dude, I love BMW's!! I have seen some shots of the new 1 series, still not sold on the looks compared to the 335i. It kind of looks like it is sagging in the middle of the car from certain angles. lol, you should get one so I can see it up close (and maybe go for a track tour too
)
Hmmmm, seems like everybody is trading in their Fit's these days

Damn, I was reading up on it at BMW.ca and it sounds like they want this car to be as driver interactive as the 1966 - 2002 (best BMW ever by the way!!). If that is the case this car should be one of the sweetest rides around anywhere! Those old 2002's are super fun to drive

Yeah the 1 series coming to NA is supposed to be inspired by the 2002. My dad and I almost bought one last summer, but there was just too much rust to deal with. This would be a great option if and only if it is as good as they say it is going to be. The 2002 Tii is one helluva car to live up to, so the 1 series will have its hands full....if it does the trick, I think there will be a VBP Fit up for grabs...but thats only after I get to try it out...
My personal experience with bimmers differs a lot.
First impression: I was 17 and it was a 95 M3, friend of mine had been saving since he was 10 to buy a BMW, he let me drift around in our work parking lot after work one night. I fell in love with it.
Second impression: Working in a shop, not BMW's, but once its had 1 decently large issue it'll continue (becomes time to sell)
More or less if you can afford it, make sure you can afford the maintenance, most BMW motors hold 7 quarts of oil and require high performing synthetic. Just make sure that you get your fun out of it while you own it and sell it once it begins to have issues

If I buy one I won't be getting rid of the Fit.
I am keeping it as my getting around grocery getter car for a while. I am planning on getting the BMW and a 2dr Jeep Rubicon in addition to my little Honda.
Ask Illusive though, he said he might be looking at trading his in for it. He has cooler stuff anyway

Illusive your fit is tight, don't do it! The 1 series is going to be a very popular car, and if you want to mod it to be different it's going to be very expensive! It also only has 2 doors so it's virtually useless for hauling people or stuff around. Think twice about it... you will be spending a LOT more on that car and you already have a sweet one! Didn't you just buy some Mugen NR's?? :O
Nah, Illusive is still young with at least a couple of years before the financial burdens of a house and restaining relationships set in.
This is the window of opportunity man!
Do it now before it is too late, the next time this window comes around is when you are 50! lol
