Well I guess the lesson today is that cheaper brands really use those tolerances.

As for the paint, it cost me $60 to get all of my supplies including:

Body Filler (for the edges to smooth out. Comes in a tube premixed )
Plastic Spatula Thing (to smooth out that filler)
400 Grit Sandpaper (Dry sand, but xdimsumx advises I get some 2200 grit for wet sanding)
Stiff Foam Sanding Block (contours will be easier )
Primer
Base Coat
Clear Coat

The paint (base + Clear) I think was around $35-$40 in a can. Don't wanna run outside to check the bill haha. I know it was $20 for the base. Enough he said to do the skirts. Probably gonna spend tomorrow mocking up the skirts and filler the edges then primer and let it dry overnight...paint on Monday...I'll keep everyone posted

lol I think each time I saw you, you were with a different girl ROFL!!! Got a good variety going on there Yeah just finished mocking up the skirts, they fit the way I want them to now. Just gotta apply some of that putty, smooth out some lines, get some primer, and sand sand sand! Then it's time to PAINT!

So how did you guys make out with the work? Any pics (not of the car, of Xdimsumx's girls , jk)

Fit Spotting!
I spotted a BOM Fit with what looked like 17" or 18" black-ish rims today headed Northbound on Mcleod up by Southland drive @ 5:50pm. I think it was a female driver, but didn't get a great look. Anybody know who it is?

Also I have a theory about my tires, I think some a$$ that runs Lexani decided to restamp a 215/40R17 as a 205 just because it technically falls in the tolerance levels. That way they don't have to actually make two tires... just one that gets a different sidewall marking.

Now why would they want to use more material and label it as something smaller? I dunno, to me, that makes no economic sense...the smarter way would be to make a 205 and label it as a 215

Anyways, yeah I tried doing some putty work, looks like ass...now I can't find my sandpaper, so I can't sand it down...bothering the hell out of me. Gotta wake up early, go to crappy tire, and get some sand paper and get these buggers prepped!!!

Mass Production!! Think about it, if they produce 215/40's like mad and then all of a sudden they need a 205/40 how easy would it be to just restamp the 215's. Becides when you look at the actual dimensions of this tire, it is practically a perfect 215 in width and size. My final point would be if they were concerned about materials why would this tire be larger anyway? Why not make it 7% smaller?

lol, don't mind me. I am just on a consipiracy roll latley In the end I am just going to place an order for some 195's somewhere on Tuesday, so not going to let this bug me. Instead I am going to get a "Pee on Lexani" decal made up to deal with my rage

Man, that sounds like a ton of work? Want to do mine too?

Nice, hey at least you are half way done So where did you guys source the paint from? You rented a spray machine or is it a spray-can?

Spray can...Vivid Blue is a 2 stage paint, so I needed a base coat and clear coat. Turned out great! No pics until I get the other pieces back AND they are on the car...you all can wait hehehehe! You can get it at Calgary Auto Body Supplies, they are located at 3-2080 39 Avenue NE. Neat little shop, all the stuff you will need to get the job done! Don't buy their primer though, go get the Duplicolor one from Crappy Tire, comes with the wide angle nozzle and doesn't sputter. I think I paid $35-$40 for two cans of paint (base+clear).

I wanted to buy locally, but I can't afford it I ordered the exact same tires from Tirerack about 10 minutes ago for 100$ each.

Any reccomendations where to get them installed & a wheel alignment. I know sometimes tire shops get cranky when you bring your own tires.
