How long did you wait for your Fit ?
Just heard from my dealer. A truck with one Fit came yesterday, but it wasn't mine. Another truck is scheduled for later today, and hopefully my Fit will be on it, 31 days after my initial down-payment.
I finally got it!
My Fit FINALLY came! It only took 31 days from when I put down the deposit. However, the manuals were sealed in a plastic bag, and the Maintenance Record was completely blank, including the PreDeliver Inspection pages. Does this mean no inspection was done?
Also, the headlights do not seem as bad as people have said on here. The low beams actually seemed pretty high to me. I've also determined that I'd like a cargo cover. Is there a place that I can get one for less than $120? Are they easy to install?

My girlfriend and I went car shopping last Friday. The first stop was the Honda dealership since my heart was set on a Fit. They didn't have any on the lot, and the salesman said there was a waiting list for test drives already. I gave him my name and number, and he said he'd call me when any came in. I went home, searched for all the Honda dealerships near Memphis, and found only one fit -- white, which I didn't want, but figured I'd at least test drive Saturday morning. Lucky for me, the aforementioned salesman called the next morning. "Get here quick, we just got a silver Fit Sport in, and all the salesmen are calling their customers." Needless to say, I got there quick, and an hour later, it was mine
Soooo I guess my wait was less than 24 hours.

Less than a week
I went in to my dealership a week ago Friday expecting to put in an order for a VBP MT Sport that would take until the end of June to get here. When I told them what I wanted, they said they had one coming, it would be here at the end of April (3 week wait). They called me the following Wednesday to tell me it was in already (only 5 days after deposit) and I got it last Friday, for a total just under a week wait.
That would be Little Apple Honda in Manhattan, KS. They did a nice job, and no pressure sales. I also got a nice trade-in on my 9-year-old Toyo Corolla.

End of July '06, the Thursday morning I walked into the nearest Toronto dealership and they had one black 5AT Sport model, exactly what I wanted, the very same evening, after work, I came back, signed the contract agreement, paid a deposit, ordered it with very dark tinted windows (that took 2-3 days to be done properly) and the very next Monday morning I was a proud owner of a black 5AT Sport model... love this little car

My VBP Fit Sport AT was sitting in the showroom for less than 2 hours when I bought it and drove it home another 2 hours later. I suppose I was lucky. Many people told me they'd been waiting for a car, but I suppose it's when they can't find or get one to that dealership. MT is hardest to find I guess, so if you are more picky then you'll have to wait. It just so happened that the EXACT color and trim I wanted was there. I figured I should snap it up as soon as I could because that day it probably would have been gone.
This is how it went for me:
The day me and my parents were out looking for a possible car for me, we finished at Honda after going to Nissan, Toyota and Scion. At Honda itself, I didnt knew what car I liked most between the Civic and Fit. There was this Fit at the showroom which everybody touched and tested. I fell in love with it, since it looked sporty and not cheap even though it was this small car lying in a huge showroom(bytheway, Fits here are at $20k). Unluckily(*spell?)for me, only black, white and milano red were at the moment in the dealer, Sport models. The seller asked what color I liked most in a picture brochure and I said silver and white. As he replied that silvers were hard to get at that moment and would take "6 months at least", I said white. After getting in a base Fit for a test drive in our capital city, I arrived at the dealer and pointed out the one in the showroom. I really wanted that one, which wasn't exposed to the sun, had tire shine even underneath the tire and wasnt mad dirty and taped up like the ones in the dealer lot. As they couldnt get it out quickly bcuz of the cars in the way, I had to go work at my part-time, which is far from the dealer. Three hours later, in work, my father came to me giving me something in my hands and making signals for me to look outside. There she was, the showroom one, parked in front of my job's window, all shiny and beautiful.
So bottom line, I had to wait like...3 hours or so for mine. LOL

. . . depending on how you look at it.
We were seriously considering a Fit as a Plan C new car for me (well, it was my Plan A, but this is a long story) and thought Classic Honda on West Colonial might have what we were looking for - an AT Sport in any color except black. So we went there Wednesday night (the 5th).
They had a red 2007 AT Sport on the lot, with most of the options we wanted (the rear bumper applique is being installed next week - we asked them to include it in the price they offered) including the cargo tray and wheel locks.
The hubby and I were tired an hungry (and the baby was getting cranky) so we took a (2008) brochure and the salesman's card. Yesterday, my husband picked me up from work (my 2001 Silver Accord LX Coupe - also purchased from Classic as was one of my other two Accord Coupes) having been sold the previous Wednesday) in Clermont (20 miles west of downtown Orlando), then we drove 15 miles northeast of Orlando to pick up the baby (who had spent a day with his grandparents being spoiled), then back home to College Park (near the center of town). On the way I called the salesman to confirm they still had the car.
A quick trip home to feed the dogs, and then a ten minute drive to the dealer. After a test drive (which left me very pleasantly surprised as I was expecting something, well not so much rougher and jerkier than an Accord, but just different enough to be weird), I knew this was what I wanted.
That was about 8 PM. We were out of there a little after 9.30.
I am a little amazed at these tales of waiting ages for a Fit, and some of the crazy higher prices people are paying! Maybe the Fit just isn't a very popular card in Central Florida?
I do know that it looks like none of the dealers in the area have any 2008s
I might post my Plan A and Plan B stories on the newbie forum!

Welcome to the "Fit Family"! I wanted a manual. so I ended up having the dealer arrange for the color I wanted to be allotted to my area; Approximately 3 months....picked up my VBP Sport 5MT on 12 March 2007...paid MSRP plus taxes etc. have added the OEM cargo tray, cargo cover, and JDM armrest/console.
It took one hour from entry into the building to the drive-off. Gotta love those internet sales departments! They had the paperwork ready to go as requested before we even entered the lot. Did a test drive the evening before (no pressure), left, then came back the next evening and had a flawless process. They didn't pull any last minute trickery with the price and kept only the options we wanted and specified in advance. I don't know why some of you are having issues finding stock on the Fit as the dealership here had fresh shipments weekly (which is why we went with Vivid Blue vs. Vivid Black as the blue arrived the next day). Hope Honda can get these babies where they are needed most!
Let see here, I brought my Fit back in September of 2006, at first I was shopping around and when I was at Honda down in Orange County back in April the car was introduce to the US market and from there I wanted that car and so wait for 6 month to get my Fit
i went tueday round 3 after work and had to leave about 8pm, it was gonna be ready 1st thing in the morning (wednesday)
so in all i waited 13 hours
i can tell you i did not sleep that night it was like 234234 xmases in one night!
i went not expecting to leave with anything, and when they told me with my credit rating the only thing they had that i could afford was a beat up old smokedin/burned/ashy sentra i had to start asking questions... sure enough i got a pretty sweet deal on the fit!

It wasn't a problem for me to find my Fit. I did not require a specific color, but I did wish to have an automatic. The dealer I went to had 2 automatic to choose from, where I chose Storm Silver over Black. They had 5-10 manual transmission Fits, though.
Both the automatic Fits were in the back lot, and the one I picked had not been driven much (had less than 20 miles). I took that car home the same night I went to check it out.
