Did I get my Fit?? yes and no.....

I FINALLY got the call, my Fit is in....(ordered in July)....then the salesman calls me back and says,"uh,there's a problem with the car...it arrived with a dent in the roof, probably from the chains on the car carrier...we'll fix it for Monday..." Man, I don't want a repaired car, I paid for a BRAND NEW ONE!!! But at this point, what choice do I have?? Wait another four months? I'm so pi*sed, and I feel kind of at their mercy, with no control over the situation. I guess I could try and ask if they'll do a little something extra for me, but I hate haggling , and I'm no good at it...I just get upset. What a disappointment. I'm 40 yrs old, and this is my very first new car. Kinda took the excitement right out of me. Thanks for letting me vent.

As long as the repair is done well, I wouldn't worry too much. Since they are not the ones who caused the damage (assuming they are telling you the truth), fixing it is probably all you can expect. If it's a minor ding, then a dent wizard will take care of it and it will be good as new.

Don't sweat it - you finally got your car! Congratulations!

Mine has a tiny scuff under the gas door by the bumper and a chip on the inside lip of the gas door.

I had them try to remove the scuff but it didnt work. Its not noticeable but I SEE IT.
The chip, I got use to. I hate it though. They offered to give me free touch up paint but I dont care.

that's messed up, i would definitely take a long time and check the roof when picking up the car. and also talk to the manager to see if he will do something extra

4 days. My wife and I got it within a week after the US launch date. The availability was "THE" top reason why we brought the Fit. We needed a car urgently then. Out of 4 vehicles on our list, Fit was the only one available for us to purchase. In the end, we are glad that we brought the Fit. It's cheap, it's fairly fun to drive, it's pretty unique, and it "fits" our needs extremely well.

I can't believe it is actually here. Ordered August 8th. Picked up December 6th. My 5 speed Storm Silver Metalic Sport finally found it's way to Cleveland. And I even got to drive it before our Cleveland winter started! Amazing!

Wish it wasn't finals week at school. All I want to do is drive her around town...

Congratulations! Yesterday was dry at least. Don't know about today.

I was glad I got about 1000 miles on the 16" rims & tires before going to my 14" winter tires. I put them on on Sunday, right before our first real snow on Monday.

Again, congrats - see you around maybe.

So, here are the holidays that have passed: memorial day, fathers day, july 4, labor day, halloween, thanksgiving. My Red Sport Auto is still "in transit" and should be here before Christmas. I hope it Fits under the tree.

My dealer said three months for a new one (MT). Any sense on whether this is realistic?
Thanks,
David

Probably realistic. I waited 179 days from ordering/deposit till delivery for a Silver Sport MT. May 13 till Nov. 8.

The wait didn't bother me too much - since I was laid up with a broken leg for more than two months while waiting for my FIT - but I got exactly the car I ordered.

Heh, not bragging, but my '91 Camry didnt start one morning and I called all the dealers in town...ended up with a white manual base Fit in my sig the same morning (end of May 2006). I initially wanted a Sport SSM manual, but didn't want to wait three weeks. Those three weeks could have been months. Who knows! I am happy with the white base Fit. The only thing is it gets dirty so noticeably.

Well, I hope we're that lucky. I doubt it, though. The dealers I spoke to said that there are no MT Fits of any type in the Northeast (!)

when did this happen? Not sure if they consider Philly northeast, cause i got a brand new fit MT 2 weeks ago through a dealer trade.

Well, I just got a Blue Sport MT on December 5 after a wait of 5 months. Interesting that a lot of folks here waiting for Blue seem to have gotten theirs just in the past few weeks. Maybe January will be Milano Red month? :-)

If you do not want to wait that long, you'll probably have to give up on color, particularly if MT is a must-have. You'll also need to expand your search area. There are a couple of big Honda dealers down close to Philly, for example, and one out close to Harrisburg that's also pretty big.

If you keep beating the bushes, eventually you'll find a dealer with a deal that just fell through, or you might find one who is willing to work with you to swing a dealer trade.

I had a chance at a Silver one about a month into my wait, but decided not to because the dealer I eventually got the car from already had my deposit and they were telling me only a few weeks more at the time. I had a shot at a Red one a few weeks after that but declined for much the same reason. So I wouldn't advise putting down a deposit either, unless you have it in writing that you can get it back. Gotta keep in touch with these guys- find out when their next allocation is coming in, and when they get their lists telling them what is coming, and call them to follow up then.

Good luck with your search; I really like the car- it was worth the wait, as there is really nothing like it out there right now- Versa is nice, too and very solid, but nowhere near as fun to drive, I thought.
