Hang in there, I ordered just around the same time you did. My dealer now tells me that the cars are on the west coast (YAY!) and waiting to get on the rail....waiting (!?) funny huh!

 

I just got word today of my VIN # and that the boat left yesterday from Japan. Hope mine is actually on your boat raphido. Mine is the 26,407th usdm Fit to be made.

 

Hey doogiefish, congrats on the vin#. How did you learn the "26,407th usdm" info??
I just heard from my dealer, he is saying that "mid Nov for sure, but no ETA yet" , I know that he is probably being conservative to be safe.BUT today I hear from an other dealer in the area, he has 3 fits (in DE, if anyone is interested, I can provide more info!), one is storm silver manual sport (my second color choice ). He had a significantly higher quote (+$365 before tax/tags). So I told him what I had from my dealer and he dropped his by $335 this time the quote includes tax/tag...but he is being very pushy and want me to go get the car today...I like my dealer but I want my fit too...any words of wisdom???

 

its the last 5 digits of the VIN.

 

Im willing to bet my car is on that boat also.
I havent asked for a VIN but I was told its built.

 

Wow, they're building them quickly now. Mine's 25,878, and currently on ther boat.

I'd wager a guess that in reality, they're 6407 and 5878, respectively. I find it highly unlikely that they've built 25k Fits - if they did, most of us wouldn't have had to wait ages like we did.

Mine is 25700, or 5700, I guess we would not be waiting this long if there were 25K fits in US???

Well, I recently heard that Honda's target for the first year was 42000 or so, so 25K by now wouldn't be that surprising.....

Besides, that would only leave room in the VIN for 9999 fits each year. I dont' think that's realistic.

wow! 42000, that is a lot . I wish Honda put this type of information on their web page instead of having us speculate continuously like this… I also read in other threads that there is a rumor on how they stopped making manual Ts for this year ?! I guess that makes me very lucky considering mine got built on the 5th of Oct .
Anyone getting updates on their ETAs??

 

I was one of the first who heard this from their dealer. Most folks didn't believe it, but I've been with this particular salesman for almost 20 years of car buying, so I believe he was telling me the truth (doesn't mean he wasn't lied to by the district rep or Honda, of course). However, at least 2 others have heard the same in the past few days.

I'd like to find out of anyone with a 5-speed coming has a build date in November or December.......

-7/15/06 walked into to dealer and bought (6 hour wait for prep and delivery)

-10/20/06 walked into dealer and bought...again (4 hour wait for prep and delivery)

I picked up my SSM MT Sport in 3 days.

I consider myself super lucky!!

 

Took me a month to get the right color. I could have had other colors quicker, but wanted the silver sport AT.

 

I plunked $200 down on a vivid blue AT base Fit back on 9/26. I finally got my VIN number yesterday - 25792 - (is that a zero or an "O" prior to the last 5 digits?). Dealer says the car is still on the dock out west. He's telling me two more weeks for delivery. I only had a choice between two fits back in September, and I'm glad I reserved one when I did.

 

If it's already on the West Coast, it shouldn't be more than a week.

Since you're in Bedford, is your dealer Jay Honda? That's where I'm getting mine from.

Jonas .... yes, I'm buying from Jay. This will be the 4th new car I've purchased from them. Can't get a customer loyalty discount with the Fit. Still, I feel comfortable with Honda quality and a service department that I trust. Jay's service dept has kept my old '96 civic hatch running great !

 

its a zero, the last 6 digits in the VIN is usually the number car built in sequential order.

 

Who's your salesman?

I bought my S2000 and my wife's Accord from Jeff Wells. Definitely a great guy and easy to work with. Mike Thomas in the service dept. is going to buy my 93 Civic the day I come in to get the Fit.

I just stopped by there to make sure they get the HFP wheels and tires ordered - spoke with Turk the parts guy - he told me to call him when I get an exact ETA and he'll make sure they're here on time.

Mark showed me the list with my car on it - no word on exact location yet.
