ef civic hb our new Honda @117k
The idle was all over the place and found the culprit was the intake air control valve.
Installed the IACV and bled the air out of the cooling system, idles smooth @ 900 rpm's.
Next a clutch

05 Forester with the bottom box it's for the B16 when that happens, I wants sum free forced induction.
What a road trip it was great. Bob and I left @ 3 am and arrived @ the track @ 8:30 or 9. The weather was perfect and the pits were test firing and dailing in the engines, o baby nothing like Nitro in the morning!! the day was long and the racing was hard. The vibration from the engine and the crack of the throttle in the pits was enough to scare the #%@@! out of ya, haha But when they went past me on the track the sound and resonance of the nitro engines made me want to fall over! John Force "Mr Dragracer" was there with his middle daughter Courtney & her sponsor this year is Traxx rc cars well they wound up running against each other on Sunday. The best time we had was talking to one of the mechanics for Courtney, He was from down under in Aussie and his name was Steve we talked about the clutches and how the hydraulic/ spring pressure pushes the clutches together untill there all together and the car is going 300+ MPH!
Now here's a Proud Papa:

There was "The Greek" out of Chi Town in a rail a real inspiration! He's 84! Here is a little bit about him:
Lucas Oil founder Forrest Lucas has announced a unique sponsorship of Chris Karamesines that will last as long as the drag racing legend competes. Lucas Oil first joined Karamesines, widely known as "the Greek," for seven national events in 2011 to rave reviews from the media and fans.
" 'The Greek' is a legend in our sport," Lucas said. "He's a great ambassador for drag racing and our line of products, and we're happy to partner with him again. I look forward to seeing 'the Greek's' dragster go down the track with our colors on his car for many years to come."
The Chicago native raced at 13 events in Top Fuel last year, qualifying for four. Karamesines earned a first-round victory at Bristol Dragway, his first round-win in NHRA competition in more than 20 years.
Karamesines, 82, has been racing since the 1950s and was recognized as one of NHRA's Top 50 Drivers in 2001. "The Greek" has won numerous national events in ADRA, AHRA, and IHRA competition.
"I appreciate Forrest helping us out the way he does," Karamesines said. "We'll get to as many Top Fuel races as we can and will do our best for Lucas Oil. What they've done for our sport is tremendous, and it's cool to have them on our car. We're very appreciative of their support." Quote by Mr. Chris Karamesines
All in all the best race weekend ever!
O ya the civvy did great no problems and did 40.97 mpg. I might have been higher if we didn't go so fast in the 70 hp 1.5L lol, I cruzed 70mph and found her @ 80 mph going smoothly down 95. There and back 650 miles+. Saturday there was a blue 90-91 hatch 2 cars over in the ocean sized parking lot, and Sunday there was a red 90-91 parked 1 row up from civvy. Going to the hotel from the track, there coming up to a stoplight was a 88-91 hatch with a tight little mill under the hood mayb a 1.6 or 1.8 sounding awsum

I got a new Civic, I wanted a Fit but because of no deals and the way the lease worked out the Civic was cheaper. 2 tank average of 42.8 mpg. I dont like where the fuel trims are and timing at idle with lots of EGR at cruise. I think the ecu is locked until a certain mileage because I bumped the octane 3 tank to mid grade hoping the fuel trims leaned out but nothing is changing. Its adding 10 percent fuel at -5 degrees timing at idle when Honda says 8 degrees. My old Civic ran great with -5 fuel trims and lots of timing and little or no EGR.
Running it always makes a car run better. The oil has a chance to get into all the places and the fuel cleans the carbon out. I think that is why my car runs so good with all the Highway and mileage.

Mike

My lease was up by mileage and the car needed work and tires if I kept it. Price wise it was cheaper to get another lease or a older car that need work so I picked up another lease and the mpg is better too. the new civic is more refined and I see the problem about steering but its because of the throttle adjusting and trans in econ. Its different but I like it over all.
Fuel trims and timing are finally going the direction I want so the ecu is slow to respond. That is why people see difference when adding premium for a tank. Its a process. We had some strong winds and rain so I lost some of my good mpg but today with a little tail wind I gained 2 mpg on the average. I do see this car getting close to 50mpg. Pictures coming soon with the dash that looks like a airplane display with a runway mapped out as soon as I can since I am working 6 days a week.

I have been running Shell and this last tank I filled up with V power and my range went to almost 600 miles. I might hit 50 mpg before winter and it warmed up a little so it is possible. I got gas Sat. after work and got stuck in traffic getting home so my average went to 23 mpg on the display. Driving to and from work I got the average to 41 mpg and still have the rest of the week.

Well the MPG went up after the trip to Charlotte, NC. I was expecting 40 mpg but this little imp got 42.4 MPG on the last fill up. That is with 185k mile injectors in it so last night I bit the bullet and bought new one and a better set of plugs. They will be in from Rock Auto next week. So this investment should net a bit more in the mpg department.
I'm tell'n you guys this has been such a great project car in all aspects looks, mpg, seat of the pants driving, and taking a car destine for the junk yard and giving it a second chance @ life! Just what God did for me and the family he has brought together under this roof I call home.
Today was our Hailie's Birthday Party and we had it at a little park close to our home. It was cool me and our 2 older girls got there early to set up the paper ribbons, balloons, food and pin-yat-ta the paper horse the kids Wack w/ a stick. Family and friends showed up and we had hotdogs and chips w/ fruit juice pouches. With a quick run back home for more chairs (of course in the civvy) everyone was comfy and well feed ( cuz ya know it's all about the food, lol) The kids played, the old folks talked and life is Good! 10 pm and all are fast asleep Thanks Father for a Great Day.
