Yaris vs. Fit

I know this is the 5 door not available in the US...but still...give the yaris some credit! my cousin drives a yaris, and hes done quite a few things too it. I really like the way it looks, i guess its all just preferencee!
Lol....imagine getting something like that pic from HERTZ! That would be crazy if the Hertz's sales rep was like "So Sir, would you like the full race edition Yaris GT which comes Turbo or the Touring Edition Yaris which is the fully blown all motor type?"
Uh i just have to say that Yaris<<<<<< Fit... I have'nt read anything in this forum but yaris's are ugly, and slow. I've gotten into it with many yaris, and have not lost yet... mine's stock, i'm assuming their's was too.
this is actually a nice pic, even if it would have been a black usdm 3 door.
i personally think that the strong point of our fits is that the nose of it doesn't really look as econ-car as the yaris...the yaris has the typical 'gotta be extra cute and bizzare to make up for what i really am' look.
but this is a nice yaris.
but stock to stock, the fits dynamics, steering, versatility, and interior quality is worlds ahead of the yaris.
the yaris has slightly better fuel economy and one thing they will always have is bolt ons directly from the dealer that are covered under warranty. including suspension components that don't require modification or cost and arm an a leg.
Looks nice but 4 doors is 2 too many for that car.
I just couldn't get over the tach-less gauge cluster placed in the center of the dash. What is the purpose of this? I do not tolerate backseat, in this case, shotgun drivers.

our fits are not really 'fast' stock either.
looks are preference, but i do think the fit looks more upscale.
toyota can't touch it on that front. they'll give you cheap or ugly. those are the only choices.
I'm not sure about the previous comments on the 5AT. The wife doesn't drive stick so we got the 5AT and its very capable! The 5 forward gears means that its not searching for gears on hills and such. Also, I'm not sure if the steering rack is shorter on this year's fit, but I don't actually need to take my hands off 9/3 position when driving which means I can always reach the paddles.
Granted that its not as quick as the DSG setup, but if you hold the throttle at about 30% when shifting up, its very smooth and quite quick. Same when shifting down coming into a quick corner.
The drivetrain and suspension were what sold me on this car.

nice write-up "Redshift"
my buddy is trading in his STi for financial reasons & was planning on getting a Yaris liftback. but i showed him your write-up and hopefully it may change his mind to getting a fit! :)

It's not a bad little car and will be reliable and get good gas mileage but it is quite a bit smaller than the fit, the centre dash sucks imho and trunk room is pretty much non existant with the back seat up.
I also hear that power is roughly the same as the fit but it does feel quite a bit less sporty. I used to own a 1998 Tercel before it was replaced by the echo/yaris and they both drive the same, smooth but really really soft and almost floaty on the highway.
The Fit is infinitly more fun to drive and offers much more versatility and value.

Idk def say Fit> than Yaris, for the same reason my friends dad got a Civic over a Corolla. For a couple hundred dollars, maybe a grand, you get much better interior quality, more power, better styling, unfortunately, slightly less fuel economy tho. :(
People only flame other cars because they are jealous of them. That's why we don't flame...and every comparison from every magazine regardless if it is US based or Canada based, the Fit is always #1. Yaris unfortunately hasn't faired so well. And the only way I believe you can get away with a cheap as chips Yaris is if you walk out of the dealership with a base model with no options. I know when I was looking for my next car, everything I wanted came in a package with other crap I didn't want. So it may look cheap on the base price, but in the end, it'll end up costing the same amount if you spec it up to the LX or Sport.
but i could have sworn that the yaris has some sort of toyota's vvt-i techonolgy, which is just toyota-speak for vtec.
