The place I went to does a full swap and will change it to manual for less than $2500 for a B16 with less than 10k miles on it. He gave me paperwork listing $2700 after tax. That's what I sent in. It vaguer than that though because it doesn't list the engine type only the year and most of the charges are in labor.

thats weird...especially since a b16 with only 10k on the clock sounds next to impossible.

also the motor needs to be OBDII. i hope that shop knows what they are doing though!

The owner of the shop had an intermediary call me and he countered the quote with $1250 stating it would be fair to put an older engine in.

But then the owner called me after that and said he talked to a few shops about putting a new engine in and he was quoted $2000. So it's close!

He's calling today around lunch to let me know the final decision.

i did an auto-manual on my first EK hatch. it isnt as hard as people make it seem, i was 16 at the time and if i can do it anyone can. just make sure to have all the parts. the hardest things were the pedals though but other than that its pretty much cake..

auto D16 < manual Ls-vtec

auto to manual is not as bad as ppl make it seem. i did it on my old civic as well and it was not a pain as long as u have all required parts for the job.
