What makes you rethink your fit?
lol where did I say my car was a race car? So I'm not allowed to make the car look like I want it to? I can't get rid of my least favorite color car for my favorite? Damn.
And yeah, Spoon doesn't see any benefit in lightweight wheels.
Oh wait. They're using the SW388 which weighs 3.88 kg. Hmmmm.
And J's is totally doing it wrong.

J's Racing > Spoon.
Every day. All day.

Thanks for sharing the great video mike410b... Now I have to beg of you not to do anything to alter the appearance of the pretty little car you have... I would have gotten a base model in a heartbeat if I could of found one.. They are very rare down here and are also stealthy if left stock in appearance.... You can have a lot more fun spending money on engine performance, suspension and drive train modifications.. People that consider a car to be slow based on its size and shape are always shocked when they find that they can't hang with an "econobox"... All of the bolt on plastic body crap does is lower your top end speed and highway fuel mileage as well as making you looking like a damned fool slamming on your brakes while zig zagging in traffic to avoid tearing the crap off....
I can't resist :)
IMO the base lines are a bit plain. And I won't mess with the engine, anything that will hurt MPG (I know aero does, but I'm fine with that small sacrifice) and sacrifice reliability will never meet this car.
I just want reliability from this car, a project car will get all the go fast goodies.

No - go for it and enjoy. Really... if spending that much is useless add-ons for little gain rocks your boat, do it. Keep at it and you'll be sufficient poor all the time, but at least you can afford to keep adding to your Fit as time goes by.
If you want my advice, stop trying to make your car something that it isn't and never will quite be... as you said, you're doing all the stuff in bits so by the time you have it all together, the car will be old and rotten inside but probably look good outside after that $4,000 paint job. Oh wait... I forgot, you probably have $5,000 seats going into the car too.
There's a lot of wanna-be owners of tuned up cars, but few have the resources/skill/money to do it right. Just save your money and spend on a couple of sensible and not too expensive mods, and someday you'll be in a better position to splurge into your hobby. Invest the money and make more first, it doesn't hurt. Splurge when you have excess!

In case you haven't noticed no one seems to be soliciting you advice.
I don't necessarily agree with or "approve" of what mike has in mind, FWIW. It is his car and as long as it isn't outright inhibiting the car from functioning properly or putting other road users in danger, he may do as he pleases.
Granted you are allowed to be as condescending as you like about it. Free speech and all that.
I give people a hard time for some of their choices as well, but never will I go on for a couple pages here and there like a broken record unless there is something factually incorrect with the opposition's contentions.
$4,000 seems like a lot for paint to me as I never really bother with form, opting to go for stock appearance with a lot of functional bits hidden where possible. But for him that is clearly reasonable and we have no idea what precisely he has in mind.

I guess spending a small percentage of my income = Me Poor.
And sorry, but I keep my car's clean.
My 20 year old Civic had a cleaner interior than 99% of cars that are 1 year old or less.
I don't want to splurge on a hobby, I want to enjoy a hobby while I'm still young.
I'm going to be poor because I mod my car? Damn.
Just giving him a bit of the same treatment he gives others all the time. I'm just curious and poking around to see if I can figure the guy out some. :)
Nothing over the top. Just a color I've grown to love over the years.
Well recently I have tried to embrace the mantra of "There's no sense in wrestling a pig. You both get dirty, and the pig enjoys it."
So now I bulk up on my ignore list like I am at Costco.

Sometimes after a few beers and a long day I'll troll a bit to blow off some steam. This is few and far between though, and most people can (hopefully) see through the charade as typically I only want to help people or atleast attempt to steer them in the "right" direction. Though that is subject to perspective in some cases.
This being on of those cases. Like a guy I know with a 700whp Sentra or another with an SR20 swapped AE86.
Would I do it? No. But they enjoy their cars. I am sure more than a few people think I am eccentric/stupid for modding 20 year old DSMs and compound boosting the cheapest car honda sells in the US.
But here we are.

Can't disagree with you here about quality, factory paint/showroom is absolutely horrible these days, with all that low VOC stuff that's also low durability. And all new cars could easily use another 2 layers of clear coat for protection but I guess no one wants to pay for it.
Is that the color you have in your profile pic of the car? Just curious.

And agreed on the second part :( Although Honda paint has always been trash.
Who the **** rests a box on the rear bumper of someone else's car? I'm trying to put the seats down and this arsehole starts lifting it when its clear he can't lift it on his own.
I am under the hood or the car all of the time just looking around and enjoying the shade and coolness on the concrete floor in the barn.. I generally go about 5000 miles on an oil change and have completely cleaned the car inside and out no more than 3 times in the 5 years I have owned it... It's a lot more gratifying to turn a wrench and feel the results of the effort and money expended than to bust my ass just to be able to see the reflection of a clean car when driving by the one building in town with windows large enough to see the car in when driving by. As dry as it has been the car is coated with dust within a minute of driving it but it would be nice to see it cleaned up and polished up at least once or twice a year.
