What has "California power?" A Prius?

The HR-V is built on the same platform as the Fit and does have the Magic Seat. We won't know options and pricing until closer to its release, but in Japan it is priced about $2000 above a comparable Fit (i.e. both 1.5L FWD). Considering the new Fit is offered with a moonroof I would think the HR-V will too.

Is there a US/Canadian release date for the HR-V?

I remember reading it's around winter.

Yep, winter for both US and Canada. Nothing more specific yet.

150hp would be my idea of CA power. Im not looking for a race car. I have thought about Supercharging mine.

You cant compare a fit to the Prius although the P has more Hp it is heavier.

Just messing with you. There are A LOT of Prii in Cali, so I think your version of California Power is just your version of power!

Haha ya. If the fit came with 200 HP I would never think about selling it. But closer to 150 would be very nice in my eyes.

Well, An HR-V will weigh more so HP is not equivalent among different types of cars. I have a Prius C 99 HP combined with the 2 engines. Just drove it up a 14,000 ft. mountain over the weekend and it performed beautifully. But it's tiny and light.

I'm in a similar situation as you. Would really like an AWD CRV but the high price and (I'm sorry) they are sort of ugly...is making it to where I'm looking elsewhere.

I am hoping to be buying a house soon and adding to the family so those things combined mean I would like a lower payment and more room. Currently have a GE Fit and a '14 Civic which will both be staying.

Can't wait for more news, pics, specs on HRV. Honestly, I think it needs 1.8 at least but everything is pointing toward the 1.5 :-/.

I'll have to test drive to see how it holds up. If it's just too slow, I'll be looking at the Mazda CX5, as much as that hurts my Honda heart. Feel like I can get a good deal on one and they are gorgeous. Idk. We shall see.

Just In From Aoyama

The Missus just came back last night from Tokyo ... with 40+ page Fit and Vezel brochures.

Whereas the Fit Hybrid (will we ever see these?) manages with the 1.5 litre ICE, the Vezel Hybrid comes in with 2.0 litres... both Atkinson cycle I presume.

Again, she prefers the added volume, suv-ness, and "cute-ness" of the Vezel... Japanese price premium appears to be <10%.

But if Celaya can't get Fit's out the door, I suspect it'll be a while before we see any HR-Vs.

P.S. With "vessel" sinks in both bathrooms... renaming it the Vessel would have worked for me. Apparently Vezel poll-tested too close to weasel for the western ear. Wot!? Turbocharged 2.0 litres? Yeah! Weasel!

From everything I can see, the Vezel is still only available with the 1.5 in Japan. There are a few references to the 1.5+hybrid system delivering the same power as a 2.0, unless they have plans to introduce one later. I wouldn't expect any upgrades before the end of the year though. They typically introduce any changes about a year after a model's initial release in Japan.

Thanks for the info. I was simply looking at the JDM printed brochure ... I've no clue what's actually available.

Hopefully they'll fit a larger (non-Atkinson cycle) engine when (and if) we get the "Vessel."

I think that my next vehicle will probably be a HRV. But I need to put another 100k on my fit before I can justify getting one :)

Why no chat of the FIT sedan ( a.k.a.City ) coming to the STATES ? There's a possibility that it may be available as a hybrid . Bring it on !

I very seriously thought about waiting for the HR-V (I hate that name btw). I really wanted to move to a small crossover. But I had a feeling that something about the HR-V would be a disappointment.

I love my 2015 Fit though, so I feel I made the right decision. Maybe in 2-3 years or so, if there is a turbo AWD HR-V, I will trade up.
