I showed my wife, she though it looked cool. I like them and can't wait to see more info on it.

I don't really want a new car, so maybe there will be a bunch of good used ones when it comes time for me to replace my 2008 Fit Sport.

AutoBlog is reporting today that USA will only see a 1.5L engine, no mention of 1.8L

Any speculation on fuel economy or price? Will this also be available in 2wd? I like the idea of a bit more ground clearance for gravel roads/potholes/winter, but don't really need the added cost/complexity of an awd system.

I really love those back-door handles -- makes the car look like a two-door almost.

I'm not sure I would want to be in the front passenger seat with all those blowers. Is that the norm in SUV-type vehicles?

I thought I liked it until.....

Digging the overall look and front end.....mini crosstour which would look sick lowered a bit.

Then I saw the rear end...someone in Honda is dropping the ball.....First the new fit has a rear end that make a narrow car seem more narow and would require a new bumper and upper led's stock to improve.

Then the HR-V whose taillights seem to take up 30 percent of the rear end and cheapen the look of the car....Im not even sure how aftermarket ones would improve on this...too much plastic.

Honda has been lucky in the past that their competitors didnt look to the subcompact market seriously in the past....not the case these days.....

If I needed an AWD smaller car, I'd be looking at the CX-5 though it is a touch longer than I would need it to be in NYC...

Glad I didn't wait. It uses the lame single cam non-DI 1.8l Civic motor.

Yeah the engine is a bit of a disappointment. Interesting to note that I didn't see the fuel economy numbers published anywhere.

HR-V less hp than Civic

HR-V 138 hp
Civic 143 hp

Why less hp? Who knows. Honda does strange things sometimes.

I'm guessing the HRV gets the 1.8l engine which is ivtec, and not earth dreams related.

If this is the case...rather strange being a new car, based on the new fit which has earth dreams

Either in 2 years, with a mid cycle refresh, hrv gets an earth dreams engine, or a rebadged acura gets the newer engine...find out soon I guess.

I don't know, is the current civic engine earth dreams or not?

Also wonder if like the new fit in Canada....if the manual will find its way to the top of the line hrv?.....I know the new fit in exlnav doesn't in the US but yes for Canada.

interesting times folks

2 possibilities based on my speculation:
  • The engine will be made in Mexico, the current Civic sold in Mexico is still rated at 140 hp (just like older Civic with R18 engine).
  • Most likely the Civic has a different exhaust system than the HR-V, which could contribute in 2 hp difference.

That motor is nearly 8 years old. The 1.5 is plenty capable of lugging the car around with only 300 more pounds. I'm expecting poor mpg results......

Wow, that's actually good news.
Reliable and proven engine.
I would not want direct sludge motor,
