On my first tank I drove 480kms, used 33L = 6.875 L/100kms or 34.2 mpg (US gallons). I drove 50/50 city/highway, 120km/h on the highway, A/C on 80% of the time. I'm doing better on my second tank. I'll have to check my tire pressure tonight.
SPort AT. I have 125 km on my odo, but my fuel tank is already 1/3 gone.
Will end up at like 375 at this rate, lol
100% city, bumper to bumper, AC on 80% of the time (nearing 100%) - I don't think i've went faster than 80 km/h yet (50 mph). Start, stop, start stop...
The first 3 refills on by Base Auto were 33, 33, & 31. All of it stop & go with one longer trip of 70 miles round trip. I usually am first away from the light, I do not drive conservatively. The car just broke the 1000 mile mark.
Most cars get the best gas milage in the 2000 to 2500 RPM range, in my Fit that is around 65 MPH. RPM, total weight & Wind Resistance are what effect gas milage, not speed.
So far the Fit is the best automotive buy I have ever made, over the years I have bought lots of new cars and countless used ones, I am a 62 year old Hot Rodder.
My best also. The Fit is really a very novel and practical car for me. I guess as I get older I'm less tolerant of certain things. The Fit is my 4th Honda. It's the cheapest one I've bought and provides the best mpg so far.

Okay, my recent fillup netted a whopping 37 MPG!!!! Up from only 27 MPG (best before)...this is all highway driving with 4 adults and some hills...speed of 75 MPH...I'm finally at 1200 miles...let see if the city driving will be up as well...and get a little better after the first oil change...so I think once the car breaks in properly, mileage should increase accordingly...I should add that it's an auto sport...
I finally clocked 34 mpg on second fill up, but I was really driving cautiously, without any hard accelerations or braking. With the A/C on, on third fill up, I got only 28 mpg. What the hell? Does the engine suck up that much gas with the A/C on? Or is it the sucky California gas? I drive a Sport AT with 800 miles on it. Here's hoping it will do better soon. I love driving this car, but wish the mileage would improve to EPA standards.
I've been using Chevron Regular Gas in Southern California. My last tank was 27 mpg 25% Freeway 75% city (Sport A/T). Does the Southern California gas give lower mpg?

On my first tank (dealer filled), got 30.5 mpg in 50/50 city/hwy driving with the A/C on 50% of the time. Second tank, got 31.0 mpg with the same type of driving. I only have about 700 miles on it and it has met most of my expectations (which were high to begin with before I purchased it based on all the positive comments posted in this forum).
I have a Sport AT and as other disappointe California FIT owners have mused, there may be something in the California gas that inhibits getting the great mileage that others are reporting. I guess I will have to venture out of state to find out if this is really the case.
As a side note, I took a trip to LV Nevada (about 300 miles) in my wife's 2006 Civic EX w/ AT earlier this year. My mileage to LV was at about 33 mpg with A/C on all the time and 4 people + luggage in the car. I filled up in LV when my tank was about at the 1/4 level and got about 36 mpg coming back. Guess I will have to make that trip in my FIT and compare the up/back mpg's.
How are you guys getting such gas mileage???
I'm getting 22mpg!!! I filler up, & top off; drive until its gets down
to the "E", and I'm getting about 210miles on the tripometer.
my sport is an automatic, I don't rev it up.
and my mileage is mostly freeway miles with the a/c on.
so its fair to say I'm getting 22mpg on the freeway!!!
When I do nothing but city I end up with around 22-25mpg. So It's strange how low yours is. When the gas light comes on you still have between 20-30 miles left. Are you factoring for that? Doing regular driving I get between 265 and about 330 miles per tank. But it has dipped as low as about 230.
In addition to the low gas mileage reported by the A/T users here, I've also read lots about them hunting for the right gear more than expected. It seems it happens especially on the highway when going up and down inclines, however slight.
I wonder if these 2 things are related? If the tranny keeps popping back and forth between 4 and 5, it won't be locked up nearly as much as if it would be in the same gear when cruising. Is it possible that keeping it in 'S' mode when this happens could actually improve gas milage by keeping the tranny in 4(but locked up) instead of popping back between 4 and 5 in slushbox mode?

Have a look at this review. I found that it gives some explanation for the behaviour of the automatics on highways.
Wow- great article and fun to read - but they're talking and giving a good explaintion of the CVT transmission, not the 'slushbox' standard automatic that we have here. Two different animals.......
1st tank from dealer: 310 miles filled up with 10.068 gallons = 30.79mpg
Drove very light on the pedal. Mostly highway to and from work. some up hills.
2nd tank 269.2 / 8.337 = 32.23 - same driving above.
3rd tank 241.1 / 7.887 = 30.57 - after the break in period. Drove alot with the paddles and opened her up. Still mostly highway.
Was hoping for the mid to upper 30's since 85% or more is highway but maybe it will get better.
I got to drive my first full highway tank on a roundtrip from Columbus to Cleveland. I got a little over 38 mpg, so I'm smiling (even though the Indians beat the Yankees ). Base AT.
