What did you do to the GD Fit today?
Thanks for the info...Any engine with rocker arms that doesn't have hydraulic lifters is going to require valve adjustments at shorter intervals than DOHC that use the bucket, shim type of adjustment... I think the reason that Honda mechanics think that a valve adjustment isn't necessary until 100,000 miles is due to not having to deal with 16 valve single overhead cam engines with rocker arms.
guess what.... day 1 = no studdering!
supper happy!
also to note, i put in cheveron's techron injecter cleaner along with filling up with 91 instead of 87.
ya seems like it runs a lot smoother
mechanic said that the exhaust valves were too tight and the intake was too loose
and to get back to him if it acts up again (it only studders in the morning/night when its really cold) because he's interested for possibly remedying other customers cars.
fingers still crossed!

There is a valve adjustment thread on here and that seems to be the common thing... mine included. Exhaust side had no clearance and the intakes were floppy.
Valve adjustments are a big thing on Honda motors. Older CR-Vs needed valve adjustments like mad!

It would be nice if access to the valve train was less involved than it is... That is as much of a hassle as doing the adjustment itself... The adjusting of valves isn't a problem but something that is a routine maintenance procedure and not really all that difficult to do..You have to have special tools, a micrometer and an assortment of shims to do an adjustment on DOHC engines.. Air cooled VWs were required to have their valves adjusted every 3000 miles after the car hadn't been driven for 8 or 10 hours.
hoping it wont need one for a while. it's kinda too much work for my skill level, but fortunately for me the mechanic i went to was very proficient in hondas and has really good prices (for california)
****Updated my Intro/build/mod thread what do you guys think

$125 doesn't sound bad at all for California... I went through training at Camp Pendleton 43 years ago.. I came all kinds of unglued the first time I was able to get off of the base on liberty and found out how much things cost there.. I guess that s one of the reason that so many people are relocating from there to Texas.

yep, tons of people have. especially austin.. i hear it's a mini bay area. 2 of my friends just moved there, also.
I couldn't imagine leaving this climate. San Jose specifically has a very unique climate that is compared to the mediterranian (sp?) and similiar to Italy. I've already lived in the desert climate (Riverside, CA) and this is 100x better IMO. Even though cost of living is high that usually gets offset by our payscales too. The San Jose police start around 80k as do the CHP. My two future career prospects BTW. And I looked at the equivilent jobs for Washington and it was half the salary!! And their homes are about half the price too. But I'll take california weather over any other state EXCEPT the Hawaiin Islands.
Austin and San Antonio and everything in between is growing like crazy... They need to do something about the traffic but so far all that has been done is toll roads that cost too much for me to drive on.. Austin has become way too costly in the last 20 years for me to even consider living in, just as is California.
