Washed her up today. Noticed I'm getting 30 MPG and less on a tank. Valve adjustment up next.

...and I would suggest you to check for EGR valve freely moving...

When I read your post my first thought was that sounds pretty bad... Then I remembered what Las Vegas traffic is like.. That could be pretty good mileage for the conditions you have to drive in there.. Which transmission does your car have? If it is an automatic that would be better than I would expect.

Didn't really do anything to the Fit today but did use the Fit to pickup a six pack of Troegs Amber Ale from the local beer store. Gotta have one while watching World Cup soccer!

I've got the AT.

Vegas traffic isn't too bad, at least not when I'm out. I live quite far from the Strip (in Summerlin beside the mountains) but I usually get 34-35 miles to a tank considering most of my drive is on the hwy except when I go to school, which I currently don't since it's summer.

Last tank I got 28 MPG, that's terrible in my book. I need a valve adjustment anyways, never got it done unless the previous owner got it done (which I doubt). Might as well whip out one of the DIYs here and give it a shot.

@jazzista - I guess I could check that out, how do I go about doing that?

The EGR valve is located on top of engine on the left hand side in front of the oil filler cap as your facing the engine with the bonnet up.

It has an electrical connection on top (sort of a black "cone") and the egr valve itself is held down with two bolts. Just disconnect the top control wire, unscrew the two bolts and check the inner of the valve. You'll find it dirty enough. There are two holes. The circular one hosts a metal head which must be free to move as controlled by the ECM through the wire. It is typically found stuck, clogged with carbon.

HTH,

Stefano

Today new front yellow EBC brake pads, fresh oil change.

Ciao,
Did you re-install with a new gasket or use the old one?

Finally got that recall fixed with the window switch thing. When the mechanic placed the cover of the switches back though, it isn't sitting flush like it used to. I tried to pop it back in but it's not really going back into it's original place. My OCD is bugging me about it but oh well... guess that's how it's gonna be now.

I still haven;t gotten that recall done, I really need to do it soon. I just don't want the dealer to f up the trim.

I mean, I guess it's a good thing to get it fixed in the off chance that anything ever happens. Guess you just have to hope your mechanic is gentle. :\

Yeah, I know where the EGR valve is. Thanks for the instructions, I'll check that out.

Thanks again!

Replaced a broken front bumper spacer and a fender plug. All is well in the world now.
Now I need to remember that my fit is too low to go over parking curbs.

I converted my 7440 single filament front turn signals to 7443 dual filament switchbacks a few weeks ago. See video here:
and FitFreak thread (that I hijacked from luismycorreo) here: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-generation-ge-08-present/79951-diy-switchback-turn-parking-led-information.html.

This week, I changed my oil and filter, used Motorflush to desludge the crankcase before draining the oil. I switch between AC Delco PF2057 Oil filters and Honda Oil filters. Fram TG 7317 Oil filters are the same as the Honda filters. Honda contracts with Honeywell to manufacture their OEM oil filters. STP filters & AC Delco filters are made by Champion Labratories.

I also stopped by the dealer to inquire about replacement bulbs for my hazard light switch, and my AC & rear window defroster switches, as they don't light up with the headlights on. I'm going to need some tips in accessing the Hazard flasher switch, since there are no directions with the replacement bulbs, from what the parts guys told me.

Just to key in on this... SOME of the Honda filters are made by Honeywells (A02 code at the end of their part number) and the others are typically made by Filtech (A01 P/N code). There is a night and day difference between the two filters, you may want to check out the A01 Filtech models or the HAMP filters (also by Filtech).

If memory serves me right it pops straight out. I forget how I grabbed mine... its been a while.

Did you just pull down the running light and drill through the turn signal housing and poke it through there?
