Installing the 51-4 Battery

Took out the OEM battery and installed the 51-4 battery and it is 25% bigger than stock. It still fits in the opening. There were a few things to do to make it work.
1. The battery tray will need the bottom edge trrmmed so the large bat. can exstend out further.
2. The positive cable will need to detatched from the bat. top cover (white arrow tip) and were the cable is attached to the metal suport ( push the black clip and pull up) this will give ya about 3" of extra length.
3. The negative cable is the one point were the whole placement is started. the dry fit is tight but doable.
4. The tie down is reused and works just like OEM.
5. Enjoy the 500 cca and added size and let's see if this will last more than 3 years like the OEM

I'm using them to cover the holes the factory wing left in the hatch. O'ya and they are suppose to add .100 in.lb. of down force and .09 hp.

I see no difference in sound quality but I DO notice the lights not dimming. Also love the look. When we did the install a friend of mine helped. We bought a splitter to split the power original power that went to amp now goes to splitter. Out of the splitter one power goes to the amp and one the the cap. The cap gets a power and a ground just like the amp.

The cap shuts off after 2 minutes of no use and turns on once it senses changes in current. Lot's of nice blue lights and digital display.

The cap is 1.2 farad, way plenty for my 500w amp.

pics!

EDIT: Oh and it came with a little transistor. Held the transistor between the cap and power cables until it was at 12V then connected power as usual and the cap shot up to 14v. Saved the resistor it can also be used to empty the cap of power if your removing it.

You know Mugen makes an actual piece to cover those holes under the same concept.

I found my emails with King Motor Sports and it looks like the link I had found on the mugen site no longer exists.

http://www.mugen-power.com/past/fit4th/parts/img/02/white_09.jpg

Kingmotorsports.com rep offered to order me one for i think $175 shipped to my door.

I don't think I will ever be able or want to do that to mine.... The Forester we have might get different wheels and tires and a carrier hitch but it will be as it came from th dealership otherwise.

I didn't think so either. But I'm taking delivery of a white ap1 tomorrow, so the benefit far outweighs the cost.

I did this when I thought I was going to be selling the Fit. Now that I'm keeping the fit, I regret going back to stock.
