I'm pretty paranoid about accidentally slipping and shorting out something, especially considering the airbag is right there, so I pulled the ground cable off the battery. You don't need to touch the positive cable. Afterwards, you have to enter the radio code and reset the clock, but the radio remembered all my preset stations, so it's not too much of a hassle. Better safe than sorry.

Very nice mod. I don't even have the car yet and I want that thing! I did something similar to my EP3, but in my case, it was Streetglow blue lights under the dash panel (footwell lighting) that was similarly wired into the fusebox. Thanks for the directions!

I just installed my ignition LED light ring and it works great. I thought I'd write up some details about the ordering process since there have been some questions posted about that. I ordered it from rstyleracing.com in Thailand; follow the link posted by FitStir in post #165 above. The website will let you submit the order, and the instructions say that for international orders you need to wait until you receive an email with the shipping quote. I submitted my order, including indicating that I would pay with PayPal, on December 10. On December 12 I got an email with the itemized charges. In Thai Bhat it was 890 for the product, 300 for the shipping, 50 for using PayPal=total 1240. Their website states that they charge 4.2% for using PayPal so that was expected. At the time, the exchange rate for those amounts would translate to US$29.04 for the product, $9.79 shipping, $1.63 PayPal surcharge = total $40.45. I sent payment using PayPal to their email address on December 13. I included my name and address as well as my order number so they could match everything up. PayPal lets you send a payment in Thai Bhat and fund it in US$ so I sent the 1240 Thai Bhat and PayPal charged me $41.60 total which is an extra $1.15 or about 2.8% for the currency conversion. On December 14 I got an email back from rstyleracing with a Thailand Post tracking number. I was able to follow the updates on the Thailand Post website until December 16 when it said "outgoing international" and after that there was no more updates. On December 30 it arrived. So the total time from when I submitted my order until it arrived was just under 3 weeks.

As for the light ring, it looks exactly like the one pictured by FitStir above and the installation was exactly as shown at the beginning of the thread.

thank you for outlining the process for others....just ordered one rep'd!

so here goes
pics of product.

this pic above is the ring opened and preped for install.
if you notice i have an eye-let attached to black.
add a fuse to red
and a connector on blue.

all tools supplies you will need are:
wire crimps/strippers
linesman
to wire connecters (the red ones you will see in pics later)
one eye-let connector
one add a fuse wire
male and female connector (to make a wire longer)
phillips screw driver
flat head screw driver

Also i would like to give credit to JDM_DOHC_SiR
he is the best. we both helped each other through the
whole process to get this done for people to come.
also if it wasn't for JDM i would have a key ring either.
thanks again JDM

more coming soon

Where can I buy this for a 08 gd

Yeah it works... there was a DIY, by the locksmith member, but forgot his actual user name.
There's 4 connections as explained in the first page of this post... 12v constant, ground, ignition (to detect when key is inserted), and lock function (when vehicle is locked).

edit... found the link but the pics are down, however the OP did give a pretty good description of them so along with niko's DIY you shouldn't have any major problems.

Well it's been almost 3 years, and my Thai keyring is still working perfectly... it's one of my favorite mods, unbelievable after the heart attack the defective JDM one gave me which only lasted a week... lol.

Thanks for the link appreciate it. Don't no if I can do this though the install is different and without pictures I have to remove gauge cluster AMD what not but I also don't have the OEM alarm just keyless entry so it won't work the same..... I'm wondering if this guide would b the same for gd since he isn't using the alarm
