Ignition Light Ring DIY
Just finished making this install. Couldn't have done it without Nick's detailed explanation of the modification. Thanks, Nick!
Thanks to Dave as well for providing the light kit. Looks great.

Finished Mod This AM

Thanks Dave:
It took me about 2 hours to do the mod this morning and the biggest problem I had was separating the top & bottom steering covers since it was really a tight fit. I finally had to use a knife blade between the halves.
Couple of questions:
1. Does the Blue LED stay on constantly? Mine has been on since I plugged the fuse in.
2. Has anyone had to trim any material out around the Ignition switch?
I can only see about 2/3rds of the lighted ring with cover back on.
Update: On 2/25/09 I had to take the clamshell around steering column apart again today to fix loose connection for Yellow wire (hate those wire taps).
Anyway, while I had it apart I noticed that there were around 5 approximately 1/8 " molded feet located on the inside of the cover around the ignition switch hole. These are apparently there to keep the cover up around the switch but they were actually sitting on the transparent ring of the LED assembly.
I trimmed them down flush to the inside edge of the hole with a knife and the cover fits much better now.
I also removed a small amount of the material in the circimference of the hole to allow better visibility of the LED.
Thanks
