Same as mine.
I guess a rock hit it and then on a cold day I was at a stop sign and all of a sudden the crack appeared.

I just met with a safelite tech about the crack on my 09 Fit Sport. He says that because the car is so new, they have to order the windshield moldings from Honda so it will take another 3-5 days. It would also increase my original price quote, which was $275.01 installed. Anyone else had this experience with their 09s?

Just noticed yesterday morning that I have a crack behind the rear view mirror which goes about a foot down from the top edge.

Ran my fingers all along the crack and couldn't feel anything like a chip anywhere, not even on the top moulding.

Does this mean stress cracking?

Weather has been very changeable here in the Northeast lately with highs anywhere from 70-90's and lows from just above freezing to around 40.

I have some sort of glass coverage so I'm going to the insurance company tomorrow to investigate what to do about this.

Wish me luck.....

Had the windshield replaced yesterday, the installer could feel a stone chip that got by me. Guess that's why it's best to take it to a professional.

Covered by insurance, cost to me = $0

5k miles=broken fog lights, 10k miles=cracked windshield.
I believe the windshields are thinner on the fit to save weight. The reason this works out well is the fact that the windshield is at such an extreme angle, rocks just skip right off. The only reason mine cracked is that it hit right below the wiper, making the angle of the rock a direct hit into the glass.
Glass guy looked up the price for a new one....$390, plus installation, closer to $500. My insurance said they will cover it for $100 deductible, thanks heavens!

A rock hit the dead center of my windshield this morning driving on the freeway on the way to to work. Just a chip that hopefully won't blossom but I am getting it fixed tonight. No cars for miles so I guess it bounced off a car and just picked up momentum until it hit my car. Totally ruined my day. Haven't even had my baby for 2 weeks.

That's a shame. You're real smart to get it fixed immediately.

Cheers.

Reviving this thread. I'm in an identical situation. Just got my car... barely 1000 miles on it. Windshield got chipped by a rock on the highway while heading to work. Luckily, insurance is covering it 100% and I'm getting the chip fixed tomorrow morning. However, I've heard that fixing a chip doesn't necessarily make it invisible. If I can still see it afterwards it's going to be a major exercise in acceptance.

I had a dime sized chip on the lower right corner and had it fixed at Safelite. Can see it if I'm looking for it, but its not bad.
