*Traded up* Who's owned them both?
I think there is thread with the title with something along the lines of "fit horrible crosswinds highway" with the reviews in it
Can't say I've owned any GE but I've test-driven a few GE6s so I can't be blamed as a simple speculator.
North America doesn't get the L13A engine in any form, but let me tell you that like the updated L15A, the L13A i-VTEC in the GE6 gets a very welcome torque bump down low and a nice zing at the top end. My twin-spark L13A i-DSI is torquey enough but gets asthmatic past 4000 RPM.
The automatic transmission is a peach. Feels like Honda took the slushbox on the FA/FD/FG Civics and transplanted it to the GEs. Shifts are very smooth, and the kickdown delay ain't too bad. There's even less aggressive creep vs. the Civics.
I would agree that the GE is the better tall-person car simply by virtue of the more adjustable driving position. The telescoping wheel is a huge benefit, as well as the dead pedal. Curiously the seats still disappoint. The GDs had short seat squabs and subpar thigh support, but I'm surprised the GEs haven't really improved on this (and I'm just 5'8"). The GE seats have way better upholstery though. Interior plastics are similar on both cars: cheap and cheery.
Ride quality is just about the same on both cars. The GE is a little softer but neither car can be called a plush ride. NVH isolation is a familiar story: there's just not much of it!
I'm not sure about GE8s in the US, but the ones here in the Philippines do come with electric folding mirrors as stock equipment.
If you had the necessary connections you could probably have someone buy them here for you and then get them installed. Both the US and the Philippines are LHD countries so it should be a hassle-free, bolt-on affair.

i don't know first hand (fitless crew #1) but according to couple ppl here said that they were very happy with lowering the fit with relevance to the highway cross winds. I read mixed reviews on the wider tires.

thanks i'll check it out. hopefully it was not in the ge forum though, because that would basically mean no improvements have been made. according to honda the rigidity of the ge is up in a colossal way, so i'm sure that helps, but if they dont insulate the thing the right way, its to no avail outside of handling (which is penalized by the crap tires and tire size on the ge8. i would never buy one unless i had back up wheels ready to go.)
