surprise the cop was still so chill after you gave him attitude..
I got a ticket today.. saw him last minute and couldn't slow down in time.
I knew he was coming after me as he was getting into position to drive, so I just pulled over myself.
He walked up, and told me I was going 45 in a 35 zone. Let me off with a warning.
But still gave me a nice front tint fix it ticket.
Not complaining here.. fix it, get it written off, and put it back on after.
It pays to play as many people would say..

U can't argue with a cop about modded exhaust... Never... Well, unless u have an "antique" plate on ur car. And the only way u can win (from my experience) at the court is if u change ur exhast back to stock set up and tell the judge that u "fixed it". I gave up after getting 10+ tickets.
Well, looking at ur exhast set up, I hope it doesnt rain at all where u live... Actuall u should get one of those snorkel intakes which people put on Jeeps and then take ur car to a shallow lake and see if can across it But anyway good luck!

Fight it??? I would love to see that in court. Hahahaha.

I really don't get why people are attracted to the idea of modding their exhaust to be noisy, annoy other citizens and look like a fool.

I used a heavy duty remove and reuse type of tint as a shade at the top of my windshield where if stopped with it being an issue I can remove it on the spot and squeegee it back in place in a couple of minutes I also carry extra light bulbs, fuses, wiring, quick connectors, test light and multi meter when travelling through redneck jurisdictions in bubba land and get my stuff out to fix it on the spot..... When I ask the cop if he would be kind enough to shine your flashlight in this area they will always offer to give me a warning ticket so another cop won't ticket me and send me on my way... I haven't had that kind of problem in the Fit but I did get nailed for speeding for the first time in 26 years..... The one before was in a VW Diesel with a horsepower output of 60.

Jesus Wept......

I love these sort of threads. Someone in California complains that the laws are too harsh for car emmissions. Then they end up having a stovepipe comming out of the back of their car. The last time that look was in was the mid 1860's on paddlewheelers sailing the Mississippi.

Don't be mad. I can wear clown shoes if I want, but if I do I will expect to be laughed at.

As for the smog laws California has, for those who would dispute them I say this; Go to the inland empire (Riverside/SanBernardino) on a hot summer day and look at what the air is like there. I don't even live there and yet I spend more time cleaning the Greasy hydrocarbon filth, from the inside of the windows of my Fit, and Civic. There's a lot of hard to reach glass in both of these, and without a special cleaner it's hard to keep from just pushing this crap around rather than cleaning it off. Now figure that is what you are breathing as well.

They need to only allow 20% of the drivers on the roads Monday through Friday and 50% Saturdays and Sundays on an alternating basis unless you are authorized to use medical marijuana.... Then you have a medical emergency and must drive if you are running low.

Actually, I figured out what the ticket is for - if you have these pipes, you are *REQUIRED* to have a mullet!

This is a funny...and interesting thread.

Whether the OP's exhaust is something I like, or would put on my vehicle is inmaterial. It isn't. But in my opinion unless you are really loud to the point where it could be classified as noise pollution or harmful, then I think the OP should be allowed to have whatever exhaust they want.

The arguement that it becomes hot and could be a danger in a parking lot or if touched in passing by someone or a child is a little harder to counter.

But as far as looks, and general decimals produced? Who cares? People operate "loud things" all the time. I live in the suburbs and am forced to hear leaf blowers all the time. No police ever show up to ticket an idiot neighbor who is enjoying blowing dust around like a retarded human windstorm.

I think if you are going to error, you have to error on the side of personal freedom. Outside of perhaps a guard to lessen the potential danger of someone getting burned, and assuming the produced auditory affect doesn't create instantaneous hearing loss...as much as I think the exhaust is excessive and I personally do not like it, I'd say carry on....

I agree with your statement on being able to have whatever you want (although I think this shit is hideous), however; OP lives in California which happens to have the strictest emission laws across the country. What they say goes, and if you don't like it, deal with the tickets and don't complain about it.

Also LOL at retarded human windstorm.

That's fine... but the law must define what is "too far", or else that is not a valid reason to get a ticket.
