the cop never said anything about it not passing emissions. Beyond verifying the OP has a valid sticker, it's not their job to determine that.

Don't be mad. I can wear clown shoes if I want, but if I do I will expect to be laughed at.

As for the smog laws California has, for those who would dispute them I say this; Go to the inland empire (Riverside/SanBernardino) on a hot summer day and look at what the air is like there. I don't even live there and yet I spend more time cleaning the Greasy hydrocarbon filth, from the inside of the windows of my Fit, and Civic. There's a lot of hard to reach glass in both of these, and without a special cleaner it's hard to keep from just pushing this crap around rather than cleaning it off. Now figure that is what you are breathing as well.

who said anything about changing emissions? i havent touched that on this car yet, but i want to hahaha and as your expected to be laughed at for clown shoes, i did this exhaust knowing i wasnt serious. i pulled up next to a gtr the other day and reved at him, when he heard my car he just laughed and i luaghed too cuz when the light turned green i was sittin there alone. but honestly i laugh at my own exhaust everyday and you guys just keep bashin on it but it kinda makes me want to keep them more hahah i like all the jokes you guys make i think they are funny, in fact im saving those pics and i plan on showing my friends.

You guys gotta understand why imports, especially Honda's, get picked on so much. The parts of a Honda are so valuable on the "black maket" that has been established partially due to the racing scene that most law enforcement agencies, like the one I work for, blame the "racers" for the high vehicle thefts. Here in Las Vegas when my department cracked down on the racing type vehicles a couple of years ago vehicle theft dropped almost 50%.

Regardless if its a "racing" exhaust does not matter in the state of California. Unless you are mentally challenged or were born yesterday you know that any modified exhaust in your state is illegal. I seriously can't believe this thread is still going.

i just dont see why though. i mean i burnt my ancle on my friends car cuz his exhaust was hot but i was just a normal canister so any1 can get burnt. ever cars painted black, you could touch it in the sun and burn yourself. but i still dont see why, i understand modded exhaust is illegal but if i attached a muffler into a turn down right before this exhaust tip and just welded this one on but didnt have any exhaust flow through it, would it be illegal?

Your writing skills make it hard to know all of what you're saying.

A modified exhaust is illegal. A non stock setup means it's modified. What part of that don't you understand?

No offense, but I can't stand mentalities like the one is this post. It's the "it's a law, let's follow it with blind obedience and shut our mouths even though it doesn't make sense" mentality. He understands why he's getting a ticket but he doesn't understand why he should be getting a ticket, and frankly I'm right there with him. Who gives a shit if his exhaust is the ugliest thing he could of done to his car, the main point here is that it is in fact his car! He's not hurting anyone with it, and I guarantee no one is being defrauded or harmed by excessive noise.

You can have your opinion, everyone is entitled to that. But don't come on a message board attacking someone's poor grammar and then force your views upon them.

Edit: Just saw you were from Canada, that sense of free will probably isn't as strong up there.

His car or not, its driven on public roads. There are laws in California that govern what you can and cannot do to your car. This is something in California that you cannot do without risking a ticket.

Seriously just stop, regardless of it being his car, or what his intentions of the exhaust are, it is not legal to do so in the state he lives in. Theres nothing to argue, its been this way for years. Were you born yesterday?

You missed my point, which was just because something is a law, doesn't mean it's right.

But then again, I was born yesterday, what do I know?

All modified Exhausts are not illegal... THAT exhaust IS. The argument about trucks with smokestacks doesnt compare to this... This is protruding out of the rear of your car. Smokestacks on trucks do not... Also it looks as if you dont have a muffler, which is another reason for a ticket.

I'm not missing your point, your point is stupid. The law may not be "right" but the law is the law. Fight it all you want but you will lose on this one.

You're a defeatist, and as much as I disagree, you're entitled to your opinion. However, just so we're clear, whenever I disagree or think my right to do something is being interfered with, I'll do something about it.

Not to be argumentative here but... Does the law have to define EVERYTHING? I think common sense went out the window the day the mullet became ok and walmart opened it's doors. Maybe everything will be right with the world when both go away forever but the return of the Z28 doesn't get my hopes up any time soon.

There's been a few reasons (that are understandable) posted here which are logical as to why it might be illegal but for some reason, that's still not good enough.
Point A: The exhaust is louder than stock (whether it has to do with the pipes or not).
Point B: The Pipes do present a higher risk of injury due to their proximity to the hatch/etc... and a hot pipe will burn very quickly... and there's no protective shield. It's easy enough to get burned there loading and unloading groceries. Maybe the OP will be careful enough because they drive daily but ask a friend/passenger to get something out of the back and ...

For Whoever posted about the volume and leaf blowers/suburbs... My response would be; that this is about as logical as my 3 year old saying a bad word and responding to my disapproval with "But Gregory says it". If we all say to hell with the reasonable volume control, what's to stop 100, 110, 120db or more. We wouldn't actually want to have respect for others who don't want to have a roaring exhaust jammed down our throats.

Common sense, Logic, and common decency...

MY GOD! I sound like my parents!!!

CRAP!
