What is this hidden button?

I have a 2011 Fit base trim MT that I bought new a few months back, and I've finally started to crawl around under the dash (at this point to run power and audio lines for my phone dock in a nicely hidden fashion). Can anyone shed some light on why there's a little blue button down here in front of the driver's left leg? It has three wires leaving it: black, brown, and purple. I think those go into a mysterious module behind the dash panel, zip tied to the frame, not apparently designed in. Its wiring harness includes lots of wires, and it has an adjustable (with a screwdriver) dial that goes from "min" to "max". It also has a blue wire running out of the end opposite the wiring harness, which I suspect is an antenna.

Pushing the button does not have any discernible effect.

Is this part of a dealer's (now deactivated?) security system? I bought the car through my credit union's program to negotiate on my behalf with multiple dealers, so I've never actually spoken with its salesman (though I know which dealer sold it).

Or maybe a tracker so the lender can find it if I stop paying the bills?

Yeah I did find this and this before posting, but neither one has picture links that still work so I didn't take any comfort in them.

I'm pretty sure pressing that button enables the Fit's flux capacitor.

That isn't stock. If you didn't purchase any add-ons for your car then it shouldn't be there. Go back to your dealer and have them remove it.

And replace the panel since it looks screwed in, why they didn't just use a heavy-duty 3M double sided tape for it is stupid.

I'ts part of the KARR alarm the dealer installs & tries to sell you. I have one too, just never got around to getting under the dash to try to figure out how to rip it out.

This would piss me off. I hate it when dealers put extra shit on cars and expect people to pay for it. Then again, most consumers are ignorant and view vehicles as transportation as a means to get from A to B and ignore this stuff.

Would piss me off as well to see anything screwed into a dash panel on a new car I was about to buy - in fact, I would refuse to buy it...
