2013: What is everyone paying?
#81
Bought 2013 (silver) Honda Base with manual transmission two days ago at the S.B. dealership. Had to negotiate hard for about three days to get the price down to $15,621, otd at $17,195 (maybe because I'm a woman). Finally got a good price by getting a quote from the Cerritos dealership in L.A. The local dealer matched it. If I had it to do over again, I'd go to CostCo and get a quote from them first.

Wow really, that's the dealership I went to. Do you remember your sales person's name? When I went there, the car I wanted was MSRP plus $500 in add ons, I told them to take off the add ons and I'd buy it right now. I ended up paying msrp of $15,400. Another weird thing is that we are in the same county, same dealership, you paid $200 more then me before tax/fees but $400 less after tax/fees.

I've been quoted $15650 OTD here in ME for a 2013 Base MT Polished Metal. A little email bidding went a long way. Headed to the dealer sometime this week. We'll see what happens.
Excited to be joining the ranks! This website has been great in answering a whole bunch of questions! Thanks!

Hell go down there and grab that thing. That would be a HUGE steal on a fantastic car. Just make sure the sales person didnt make a mistake when he said out the door. $15650 would be a good deal before taxes and fees.
The thing that would concern me is the Fit's invoice price is what $15,100? If you are getting that car for $15650 OTD, then you are paying around $14200ish before fees, so they would be losing $1000. Maine has sales taxes right?

Yup, sales tax is 5%. I was very clear in emails saying "out the door means taxes, title, fees, etc., right?" which they confirmed. I got another dealer in the state down to $15850 OTD.
My tactic was pretty much email every dealer in the state and tell them flat out that "I don't want to come to your dealership until I have all the details worked out, and yes I am sending this email to every dealer in the state" and then as prices came down I would send out updates telling dealers what other dealers were offering.
I am definitely wary of people pulling one over on me. Would asking for the VIN be a worthwhile cause? Is there another way of verifying the integrity of this sale?
Thanks,
Baron

Not really that I can think of. You could ask for the vin but why? You dont need a car fax, and youre not getting pre approved financing on a used car. Then again that would confirm the car is there and they are not just trying to get you in there. I'd say head down there, drive it first, and make a deal. That is a fantastic price.

Bought our new 2013 Fit Base M/T for $17,000 otd. $1023 of that was sales tax.
They gave me $500 Honda "flex cash" if I financed at least 10k of it at 2.9% thru Honda. Salesman said I could pay it off after 3 payments. Then the Finance mgr. said 6 payments or $75 penalty. I baulked, and he said they would reduce the price by $75, so I could pay it off after 1 payment. Worked for me!

$18,000.
I bought a 2013 Honda Fit, Vortex Blue Base Auto with Mud Guards and Pinstripes for $18,000 total (paid by check, not financed) on January 8, 2013 in suburban Baltimore (Glen Burnie). Here is the breakdown according to the sales sheet:
Base Price: $16,185
Discount: $550.23
Stripe: $99 (thin double pin stripes most of the length of each side)
Mud Guards: $192 (back bottom of all four wheel wells)
Freight: $730
Total Cash Price: $18,000
The stuff not listed are taxes, tags, title, and other fees.
I probably overpaid for the Mud Guards. I got the pinstripes and mud guards because that's what was on the only 2013 Vortex Blue on the lot of a 100 or so cars. I'm glad I got them, though, for the look. And you might be amazed at how often the pinstripes and guards help me distinguish my car from otherwise identical Fits on parking lots.

2013 Base Automatic.
Selling price was 16,588. Adding the usual DMV and title feels it came out to 16,904. Then 8% tax rate you get 18,237.
I got in with the .9% APR financing which will save me a lot in the end.
They originally wanted to add on the enhancer and identifier but I did not want it so they took it off of the price. I think the identifier is still technically on the vehicle so I guess I got it for free.

My wife just totaled our 07 Sport that we bought new in April 06. After a frustrating week trying to find a decent used GTi or Fit, I am going to the local dealer tomorrow to buy another new one. They have a manual Sport (she loves driving a manual) listed on their site for $17250 which is already less than the Honda site says ($17950) so we'll see what kind of deal I can work out. $18K OTD would be nice. I think I paid about $16K OTD for the 07.
BTW if anyone needs a trailer hitch for an 07-08 I've got one. I don't think it will "fit" the new one.
