Help my dying fit

Hello I have a 2008 Honda fit. Today I was driving in some wet conditions. I was spinning the tires a bit but otherwise driving normal. After awhile a really loud rattling sound came from the center console of the car. The sound got worse after shifting gears but the sound eventually subsided. Later i was driving just cruising in third gear when the same thing happened. Has anyone experienced similar problems and if so what is the cause. I have read other forums saying the trans is about to go. I have a manual transmission with 55k miles and a new clutch with 6k on it.

Could it have been a rattling exhaust? Only other thought that I would have is that if you are replacing the clutch at 49k, do you drive the car hard? Popping the clutch could cause the transmission to go sooner. I have 110k on my stock clutch and there is no slippage or anything.

I would say heat shield. I had the same kind of noise after I picked up my Fit from the bodyshop after a run in with a chunk of cast off tyre tread. They tightened it up and I have had no issues since.
