More pictures - more pictures - more pictures!!!

OK, I'm back in town and the wheel/tire I ordered from Tire Rack arrived Friday and was test-fit today.

Wheel: Enkei NT03-M (17x7.5 +45mm)
Tire: Yokohama s-Drive (P195/45R17)

Note that this is the ONLY tire available in this size and is THE closest to the OEM diameter.

Here's the link to my Picasa web album:

Picasa Web Albums - Tom - Honda Fit - E...

So how does it fit? It looks absolutely fine to me. Loads of room inside, WAY more than I had on my Audi. And you can see from the pics that the rim sticks out exactly where my post a few days ago showed it would, with the tread well inside the fender.

Looking at this fitment, I personally cannot see why a P205/45R17 would not fit fine. I would think the sidewall would be more vertical (P195 on a 7.5" rim is the absolute limit) so you'd see 5mm more tread beyond the fender looking down, instead of looking at some sidewall. I showed this to my wife, and the first thing she said was that it looked closer to flush than the BBS/Azenis combo I had on my S4.

Since Tire Rack can no longer get the hyper black version of this wheel (and I found a source) I will be returning this wheel/tire and sourcing tires from Tire Rack (including snow tires for the OEM 16's) and wheels from another source.

The Big Question at this point is: Do I go with P205 tires or stick with these P195 tires?????????

ADDENDUM - rear pics added - not that fitment on rear was an issue that I know of, but I threw it on the back and snapped some shots. Could use a spacer for a bit more "flushness"

Do you plan on lowering the car at all..??? and what was the strut clearance in the front like... do you feel that you would have enough room for the 205 if you do have room go with the 205... if not stick with the 195

Well, I didn't plan on lowering the car, since it's just supposed to be our primary commuter/around-the-town car and not something I was going to sink a lot of money into. On the other hand, it would look really nice dropped down a bit. I'd just want a conservative drop, maybe 1.25" or 1.50" - not a full 2.00". (Any ideas on where to go for such a spring?)

I stuck my hand back behind the wheel to feel for space and it felt like there was a ton of room everywhere - nothing like my Audi, where the tire just barely had clearance.

And of course if I do drop it a bit, I'd gain the advantage of a bit of negative camber, which would be a good thing.

I think tomorrow I'm going to give it a shot & order the 205's. If there are any issues at all with a bit of contact under severe compression, which is the only possible problem I could see happening, the OEM wheels (with winter tires) will be going on around Thanksgiving, and then I can source & install springs before next spring rolls around and the 17's go back on.

Sounds good..... Yea I hear ya` on the Audi having little to no clearance... On my 2003 GTI I could barely get a 8.5 inch wheel to fit up front without touching the front strut.. tire selection was a pain

These will stick out way far! i tried konig helium 17x7 +40 and they stuck out way far. its the +40 thats the problem, you will need +45 at the least maybe +43 if you wanna push it too the limit!

Yokohama All-Weather for 09 Fit Sport?

I'm really liking my 09 Fit Sport..but I would like to upgrade the Stock Tires.

I prefer Yokohama all-season as I have to deal with ice, snow, and rain but don't want to switch tires for winter/summer.

Any suggestions on the tire and what size I should go for? I'm not seeing a lot of 195/16's...and no 185-55-16.

I'm open to other brands comparable in quality to Yokohama's.

Thanks!

They're just not out there, at least not yet.

Do you have the Dunlop or Bridgestone tires? I personally think the Dunlops are pretty good tires, and I've heard the Bridgestone OEM's stink.

I may have my Dunlop OEM's up for sale - I'm going back and forth on getting snow tires right away, or trying the OEM Dunlop's through this winter. We're lucky in that my wife and I commute, so we can keep one car at home and take the better "snow car" (2006 Outback 2.5 XT Ltd w/Blizzaks) out on more treacherous days.

Unfortunately the Bridgestone Tires. That's why I am hoping to upgrade soon...wonder what the chances are that they'll get decent tires out there for the Fits? Eventually everyone will need to replace the OEMs...tread life isn't that long.

My wife has an AWD Element so the worst days this winter we can use that, but will be nice to get decent Fit tires.

AWDTurbo - What snow tires are you getting (possibly)? Have you heard of anyone using the Dunlop's effectively in snow/ice?

Just get a set of 195/55/16, differences in speed is less than 2%. Heck, I'm temporary running 2x 205/55/16 and can't feel much differences.

Well, it looks like I'll be getting the Bridgestone Blizzak LM-25, which is the only major brand snow tire in the OEM size.

It's not what I prefer, as I had a similar (older version) tire on my S4 and though not terrible, it wasn't great in the snow and still pretty bad on dry. I've always been happy with the WS-series Blizzaks, which we've had on 3 or 4 other cars, including our current Outback. Still pretty bad in the dry, but handles snow & ice very, very well.

Looks like 205/50R16 will fit factory wheels without a problem. See the post below about having to run 205/55R16 while waiting for a replacement tire. This is good news for us when it comes time for replacement summer tires on factory wheels.

Mine are coming...supposed to be here October 22...will probably not be able to install/drive until the next day, though.

Snow tires are being installed on Tuesday afternoon (on OEM wheels.)
