He is not the only FitFreaker that moved on to buy a Ford... Another contributor that was running a boosted GE just went for a Focus ST in a beautiful racing yellow.

No need to get your panties in a stitch, he's just sharing his opinion of two cars. I like Honda's as much as the next guy but I think Ford really hit the nail on the head with its Fiesta ST. I like the styling and under the hood it's impressive.

The Fit is a fun car but it is pretty underpowered.

ST sure looks good for a quick hatch, but thought he bought the even more under powered than fit, 1 litre ecoboost model?

they do quite a few 1 litre turbos in Japan as the tax brackets are per 500cc so getting the same/similar power from a 1 litre saves you a bit in tax each year. Not a fan of the Daihatsu Boon and other 1 litre turbo cars here cause if you step down just another 340cc you are in 660cc kei car territory which is serious discounts on taxes. I havent driven Fords 1 litre turbo so it may be a heap better than the local Japanese ones.

This 1L is pretty fun, I only bought the car for DD'ing so I can't comment on its potential, nor do I care to so. For everyday driving, its plenty quick; torque comes on low and strong, the antithesis of everything Honda.

As for why I'm still here...I owned a GD for two years. I still like Fits, would just not own one again. Also, the Fiesta forums are awful, its like Fitfreak except without the 1% of members who actually do cool things.

This is the 2015 Fit forum, not the Fiesta forum even if you did have an older fit. Why in tarnation are you hanging around ? To brag about a Ford Fiesta ? We don't care, we want to talk about the Honda Awful fiesta forum ? Should have bought a 2015 Fit

Comparison link. Fiesta a looser most all around

Buyer's remorse

My folks had a family friend in the '70's who fell heir to a Chrysler dealership. He had been a used car dealer who placed many late model Buicks with people who could have anything they wanted.
He tried to continue the same level of service with his new product. I remember him saying all modern cars were about the same. It wasn't long until he was pushing Buick again.
A Ford is not a Honda regardless of acceleration. The Fiesta may even be a little quicker. I know one race it will win and it's down hill all the way.

Beyond that, what mods do people do? Suspension, wheels, exhaust? Every car has that. Fiesta has that ST lineage too.

That said, I bought mine to keep it stock; I'm done with this modifying cars with solid beam rear axles business.

For people thinking the Ford Fiesta is an all-around better car, obviously everyone is welcome to their opinion. Anyone interested in Hondas must be concerned about reliability and that is where the Fiesta and Ford in generally fall short. JD power rates the reliability of the 2014 Fiesta only a 2/5. A Fiesta might be a lot of fun for the first couple years until it really reveals it is still a FORD- Fix Or Repair Daily.

Do the Fiesta ST's still have those horrible automatic transmissions Ford makes, or are they all MT like the Focus?

All MT, as are all the 1L EcoBoosts.

That said, neither Ford NOR Honda has a great history of making reliable auto transmissions.

Amy, I didn't say the Fiesta was a better all-rounder, the Fit may be better for the boring masses, its just not the athlete (in relative terms) it once was.

Mike, I totally get the appeal. I was just throwing it in as some past comments about it on these boards claim that Ford makes the "2015 Fit ST" and stuff like that. Some comments have hyped it up to levels it can't match. It does solve some of the "problems" people see in the 2015 Fit from their perspective but it has its own set of flaws.

Yea, but the new Ford transmissions are on a whole different level of unreliability. I drove a 13 Focus for six months as a daily driver and the transmission on that thing was utter crap. It's like the car didn't even know what gear it wanted to be in.

I didn't read that the latest Ford auto was unreliable, just that it was a horrible experience (jerky at low speed).

I remember test driving an Audi A3 all excited about the DCT when it first came out years ago. After the test drive, I ran the other way. It bogged and jerked so badly out of the hole with a turbo motor.

That 'jerky at low speed' is a broken transmission. Or to be more exact, broken electronics that control the transmission.

It's a pretty widespread issue in the vehicles.

I did a search on this after looking at the Fiesta a few weeks ago, and found a forum on the Focus/Fiesta transmission issue that was over 250 posts long beginning with the 2011 Fiesta up to, and including the 2014 year Fiesta. That was a number one reason I would not even consider a Fiesta nor a Focus. Number 2 issue was with the very tight back leg room, and very small rear cargo area. The sales rep tried to offer me a very large incentive that sounded real nice, but what good would that do if I am going to be unhappy in the long run with the car ?

Not to mention, years down the road with this so called normal sounding grinding issue with the manual-automatic, trying to sell the Ford will not have a good value like the Honda's. No way would I be that stupid in getting one. Gas mileage on the Fit is slightly better than the Fiesta and the Fit has a good normal automatic transmission. Why couldn't Ford do the same ? Dumb, really dumb.

Good for you, personally I did cross shop the Fiesta prior to buying my Fit but the lack of aftermarket support was one of the main reasons why I didn't purchase one.

Please keep us updated on how the Fiesta treats you over time, as a Ford shareholder and enthusiast of compact cars I am genuinely interested.
